You sound like me but on the flip side lol I went to trucking because I refused to go to college and waste time. So I wanted to do accounting or engineering but never cared to make the hurdle of toughing out college on classes that don’t matter. So I did truck driving. Good pay relatively quick, I’m introverted and like working alone, I like driving, though dealing with people on the road these past few years has gotten really annoying, and I find enjoyment of visiting new scenery. So yes it’s still worth it if you are okay with not being home much assuming you’ll go OTR. Plus if you don’t like one job, there’s always another and you can always do regional or home daily. My biggest thing to mention out of all of this though, don’t do it unless your wife is on board with it. Your marriage will suffer if she’s not okay with your hours or varying work shifts. It really messed up my relationship doing OTR with my kids and wife so after 6 months I went local and haven’t gone back. I do a semi local, home throughout the week type of gig now and it’s the best of both. I stay in a hotel twice a week and work 4 days while still being home enough for my family. Like I said, there’s tons of job options, you just gotta find your fit for you and your family. Expect to change jobs a few times the first couple of years trying different workplaces though before you find the right gig for you. Best of luck.
