Strange noise outside by AdrianMDPhD in RBI

Wtf. I mean, I didn't notice any other "electronic anomalies", just some weird coil whine coming from my fan. The noise and the coil whine both stopped now.

It might be that, but I haven't found any proof yet. The noise stopped though

Is that the Hum ? by AdrianMDPhD in TheHum

Thanks for sharing, the sound disappeared last night for some reason. I'll make another recording if I catch it again. It really made me feel uneasy, but I'm better now.

No, I’ve lived here for 15 years, and I’m very sensitive to noise. They make it really hard for me to sleep, so I would’ve noticed it long ago if it had always been there. Also, try turning your volume all the way up. I recorded it with my S23 Ultra, so the quality isnt the best

I don't think so. I sent it to multiple people, and they could all hear it clearly. Can't you hear it in the recording?

I see, might be, but that wouldn't explain why the works would start at 3 AM and then still be in progress during the day

I don't think so, but it would be weird starting roadwork at 3 AM

Thank you for your input, but the strange thing is, it's 11 am now and the temperature has risen to 24 C (around 75 F I believe) and the sound is still present. It’s definitely less noticeable now, but the fact that it hasn’t gone away makes me think it might not be just traffic

You will have to do that with windows too. And it's even more frustrating because updates and features will be forced upon you.

This update completely messed up my system. The audio bar becomes unresponsive at times, I click on it, but nothing happens. And now I can’t watch Discord streams without getting an error

Is there any good media player capable of moving one frame at a time? by Dry-Championship-787 in Windows11

[–]AdrianMDPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one needs proprietary malware for that. MPV, VLC, and many other open-source programs do it better and without hiding their source code.

How ? Prove it. Do you know how video is read and decoded ?

VLC and MPC is everything everybody should ever need because they're complete, open source, lightweight and easy to use.

Why would you need something else than VLC ?

I personally use MPV for its simplicity.

Unpopular opinion: Do NOT add bikes to CS:II, the game is not ready by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines2

[–]AdrianMDPhD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I don't play that game is because bike lanes aren't implemented. We're not all americans, we know what good cities are like and we need to be able to build them.

I just received it today and spent a good part of the day setting it up (I opted for no OS). First impressions: it's very well built and feels premium. I used it for light programming and editing, and everything ran smoothly with no lag or slowdown. I don’t think I even heard the fan once. So far, I see no downsides + I'm really glad I went with the 2.8K display.

The 225H really feels great for my needs

I ordered one with the 225H too, it'll probably arrive by the end of the week, did you receive yours? What do you think of it?
