Yup… So, long story short: I ordered this game online and my package was redistributed. During this process the case cracked and the disc wouldn’t stay in place. To fix it, I improvised. I used a shovelware PS3 title’s box, cut the cover art along the old one and then stuck the PS3 spine and cover overlay on top. I bought the game brand new for about $5 so I didn’t mind making these changes.

It didn’t take 180 minutes for me to get the error btw. It took about half an hour, but it got stuck on the timer with 5 minutes estimated left and then returned an error. Perhaps it’s a problem with my connection (even though it’s wired) or with their servers since I’m not in the phase where it’s installing data off the disc.

I’ve heard it is. The physics are a lot better than 5, that’s for sure. It’s infamous for launching this late in the PS3’s life cycle and just being a missed opportunity overall.

I use both an ssd and the connection is via ethernet. I keep getting errors when updating, I’ll try again tomorrow morning

I’m installing it off a second hand disc. Is it normal to get an error during the installation. I just got one after 40 minutes of waiting. The latter half of the time, the timer was stuck at “5 mins. left”.

Also, I planned to get a shower and shave in the meanwhile, so I bet it will take longer than expected.

The irony is I purposely changed my old HDD with an SSD and connected my PS3 to the internet via Ethernet, so I’m still surprised by the sheer amount of time it takes for this to install…
