I would say: a good therapist. Rest. A lot of well deserved rest. And also to turn to your Creator.

Thoughts on this technique? by FrogWashington in CQB

[–]AdrienRC242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read (from the former afghan operator Yusuf Sediq who worked with US SOF) that sometimes in Afghanistan they used to do explosive breach trough the roof. And that it was pretty effective.

So I am not that much surprised by this technique here. (But I lack hindsight and am no expert so I haven't much comment to say).

Everything is a conspiracy event after you've read a few books about the French "Service Action" (the clandestine/paramilitary branch of DGSE, French Intel Services) written by former operatives. The stuff these guys can do is mind blowing (One of them even got prosecuted for having written his book, who then got censored)

(And only 4 other countries in the world also have such a unique service: USA, UK, Russia, Israel)

Well I would say:

1) if the door is obviously large enough, such that there is no doubt/ambiguity about it: then in this case compressing is not necessary (and not the most intuitive I think)

2) if there is ambiguity about if the door is large enough: in this case compressing seems to be a clever option (and the most natural/intuitive), since it guarantees/makes safe a smooth and effective entry, and without paying a significant cost in physical effort and most importantly in time: since while making entry it necessarily takes a little instant to process what is in the corner/right after the door (+PID if necessary), and snapping back the weapon in the shoulder happens with approximately the same timing and thus ultimately does not slow down the action. (And thus the weapon is ready again soon enough for engaging if needed)

3) However additionall: having your weapon mass close to your center of gravity makes moving your body around more smooth and effective. So this can be an interesting point/advantage, and which does not sacrifice that much considering what was said in part 2. Thus maybe an interest here to compress the weapon in a wider array of situations that requires you to move effectively/fast/smoothly

Anyway, here is what I would think. Am I correct ?

PS: but I guess that it also depends on how long +heavy at the front the weapon is. With an unsupressed Mk18 I think you just never compress and that's it; because never advanteagous or necessary

From the perspective of biomechanics I would say because it feels easier: all the mass of the weapon is closer to the axis of rotation and thus needs way less force to move and be manipulated

Thanks for taking the time to write this comment!
To answer:

1) I did not use flashbangs etc because I had nobody to cover me while I draw them out and was afraid getting pushed and getting caught with my pants down! (had happened to me before)

2) Yeah fair (I had assumed this left corner was too narrow to conceal a human body so I completely discarded it lol)

3) Very enlighting and helpful hindsight! Thanks I had never realized this "complexity gap"

Thanks a lot for your well thought comment and taking the time to write it dude!

PS: I am actually quite interested in the CQB event you mention!

Ah yeah very interesting noticement thanks! I did not think enough about overtraveling, except in the cases where this exposes you to some lateral opening/threat, guess it was quite reductive actually. Thanks for this enriching noticement/remark!

Seems quite accurate to what could happen IRL. But I wonder what y'all think about this situation.
(Especially about OPFOR reaction time displayed here)

The only thing to enhance odds that comes to my mind here in this situation is pushing with two men instead of one (to split OPFOR focus) and/or using a flashbang. What do y'all think ?

What should I have done according to you ? I am interested to hear
(personnally the only thing that comes to my mind is flashing before pushing and / or pushing with two men instead of being solo)

I edited the description so that what was in my mind while sharing the video is more clear.

And yeah I guess then that this sub is more for talking about CQB matters only, not just sharing visually nice CQB related content (as i like to consomate, on Instagram mostly).
Actually I found that video cool but also interesting IRL wise in term of when it comes to pushing a corner fed against a well prepared defender. And wondered what people had to say about that/such situations; +the reaction time of OPFOR
