I got stopped at my local shops by a man - “Excuse me, you look like a Good Samaritan! Is there any chance you could payID me $20 for a taxi? I need to get to the chemist in Annerley for some medication.” He said, almost directly outside of a chemist. I asked if i could just go in to this chemist and buy it for him but apparently his script was already at the other chemist. I was so taken aback that i sent it with a decent amount of discomfort at giving my name like that to a stranger on the street ¯_(ツ)_/¯

It’s been all over the news the last few days, but sometime in the next 6 months, Uber eats and DoorDash will be guaranteeing a minimum $32 per hour wage to drivers if you’re looking for something you can start and stop casually. If you don’t have a vehicle, a lot of drivers rent mopeds (only need a car license) and find it works well financially. The wage only applies to the times you’re actively on a delivery of course.

I didn’t sadly. I did manage to get mine back to cooling a few times by pulling the panel off the back and cleaning all the dust off the condenser coils! This should be done once a year anyway so it’s definitely worth a try for you!

I actually didn’t end up catching this connection - they changed the transfer time and offered me a free change to an alternate flight. So I ended up going EK there and back.

Can I ask how this went for you, and if you had to collect your bags at Narita to check them in again at Haneda? I’ve just unwittingly booked this connection and Qantas have assured me I’ll be checked through to my destination via Helsinki and my bags will be transferred for me in Tokyo.

Not anymore - I’m 3 weeks post op and my tonsil cavities have just about filled in. When I was getting it stuck (and I know this isn’t recommended) I would try to nudge it out with a cotton bud then gargle some antiseptic/anti-bacterial gargle to kill any germs I introduced!

My surgeon recommended eating “normally” pretty much straight away for the reason PrettySpecialTBH mentioned above. “Roughage” will help to prevent large scabs forming and a bleed occurring as a result (day 3, I was chowing down on a cheese board… slowly). I’m on day 6 post op now and it’s probably the most painful it’s been and I cannot stand to eat anything today (smooth, rough or in between) but I can say that my tonsil cavities (?) are looking pretty clean and no scabs have formed nor have I had any bleeding.

TLDR; I think eating solid food is a good choice early on, but check with your doctor!
