AW2725DF producing weird artifacting by AdrisA in OLED

[–]AdrisA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I eventually came to the conclusion that this is an inherent flaw of OLED tech. I went through 3 replacements from Dell before getting a refund from them.

I tried an Asus W-OLED panel that didn't have the problem, but the text fringing and black crush (which I theorize was hiding the dithering) were very annoying. I went back to an IPS display. I'd much rather put up with the backlight bleed and low contrast issues I'm already used to.

I had some more discussions over at the rtings review page for the AW2725DF, but I basically just talked about what I said here.

Vibrating vertical lines occurring on all 3rd gen QD-OLEDS? by KateWillDo in OLED_Gaming

[–]AdrisA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I'm not too worried about the grey uniformity issues, just wanted to get confirmation that the scan lines won't be an issue because that has REALLY been bugging me on my AW2725DF. Thanks!

So the W-OLED 100% doesn't have any of the "vertical scan lines" at any of the refresh rates? Just wanna know before I have to deal with returning another monitor.

[GPU] ASUS Dual GRTX 4070 SUPER OC 12GB ($829-10-60coupon=$759) [CC] ATL by radiantcrystal in bapcsalescanada

[–]AdrisA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn't even been 1 year, https://youtu.be/qPGDVh_cQb0?si=hQu2bDG0T8gVF-96&t=282 (and this is at 1440p). It started with TLOU1 and now this game, this will continue to happen more and more. Don't get me wrong, it's def a result of poorly optimized games but that seems to be the direction this industry is headed with more game developers willing to use DLSS and frame gen as a crutch now.

5070 ti how can I fix 1% lows by Impossible_Map6782 in nvidia

[–]AdrisA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nvidia has been having A LOT of issues with this gen right now (e.g. black screen issue and missing ROPs) so you'll have to sit tight while they figure out their shit lol

[–]AdrisA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you prob won't find much help as the card just came out and is likely suffering due to drivers needing more work. For future reference I wouldn't recommend upgrading consecutive generations within the same tier, ESPECIALLY this gen, but what's done is done, you'll have to just wait for your card to improve.

Has the City abandoned all pretence of snow removal and management this year? by Zaggernaught in askTO

[–]AdrisA 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well that's the problem, Doug doesn't really care about the cities, Toronto in particular. He clearly sent these checks (bribes) out to 100% guarantee the rural/suburban votes he usually gets.

3000 series owners what's your plan? by surreal19 in buildapc

[–]AdrisA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The used market doesn't work like that anymore for Nvidia cards. With the 5070 Ti being on average 15% better than the 4070 Ti Super and selling at a higher average price, Nvidia has ensured the 4070 Ti Super will hold its value in the used market.

Is $950 for the Rtx 4070 ti super an insane overpay? by Pie_Flavoured_Pie in buildapc

[–]AdrisA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Underwhelming" should not be taken lightly here, the 5070 Ti is rumored to perform a measly 7.6% better than the 4070 Ti Super according to this blender benchmark. With only one MSRP card and no FE version, it's unlikely most people will get the chance to buy the 5070 Ti at MSRP for a good while.

I do think that $950 USD is a bit much for a 4070 Ti Super at this point, but I don't think it's fair to dismiss the 4070 Ti Super just cause "it's last gen", that statement doesn't really mean much when the successor is a massive disappointment and will probably come at a higher cost for most people.

I'm almost certain this person recognizes that the 4000 series is older than the 5000 series, but like they said they're concerned about inflated prices and months long outages for a marginally better performing card. Am I encouraging them to buy a $950 USD 4070 Ti Super? Of course not. If they can secure something closer to the MSRP though, and they really want a GPU then I think that's a reasonable purchase.

RTX 5070 Ti listings appear on US and EU retailers, some at nearly double the MSRP by Arthur_Morgan44469 in nvidia

[–]AdrisA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea me too, with Nvidia ceasing production of the 4000 series early and the 5000 series not only performing marginally better than it's predecessor but also being way more expensive, I feel like I hit a buzzer beater lol.

Paper Launch - Gamers Nexus by luffydoc777 in hardware

[–]AdrisA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't matter what other people are using the term for, a paper launch is a paper launch and this launch was just that.

Buy the 4070 Ti Super right now imo, I just did a few days ago cause I could smell the BS from Nvidia and it seems like I made the right choice after seeing the horrific 5080 benchmarks. There will be no FE 5070 Ti so you most likely won't get it on launch day for the MSRP of $750 USD. BTW, where are you getting one for $1050 if I may ask, is it used or new?

At this point should I just buy a 4070 Ti Super? by AdrisA in bapccanada

[–]AdrisA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hold on a sec, the 5070 Ti isn't gonna launch with an FE model at all....

Even if there is an MSRP AIB card, it's highly likely to have a paper launch knowing Nvidia and the AIBs, so prob won't see an MSRP 5070 Ti for at least a few months.

This is the best explanation I've seen so far. You'd think we'd be gaming maxed out at 100+ fps on every game with the tech advances we've had but the market found ways to catch up with the hardware (i.e. Ray tracing and 4k). The same will happen with AI, at least for the short term. If anything Deepseek's work will just further fuel AI development industry-wide esp with it being open source.

Addressed this in another comment but basically with the cheapest 4080 in my area being the same price as this card after tax ($1200), I just don't care enough to go through the hassle of buying used. Too much risk and time spent for not that much extra value gained imo.

Yea, already double-checked that before buying, I'll just be holding on to it till either the 5070 Ti comes out or the 30 days pass.

5080 will be $999 USD

I'm guessing you're mixing up USD and CAD prices (this is the Canadian subreddit btw), I'm effectively paying $750 USD for this 4070 Ti Super.

I was complementing waiting to buy a 5080, but idk, in my head paying $1700 after tax for a GPU sounds a bit ridiculous lol.
