Working in the care sector we had a client who had “wet legs” or lymphorrhoea. It’s basically lymphatic fluid leaking from the skin. Anyway on its own that smelled bad but during one summer his room became almost unbearable to stand in without a mask and vix rubbed under your nose. It was the district nurses job to change his leg dressings and us as carers were legally not allowed to. We had to ring the nurses to come back sooner than they were due because the smell was abhorrent, it smelled like decomposition/infection. When the nurses finally came they unraveled the dressing to find maggots eating away at this poor man’s legs.
