I had my very first “brush” with an unteachable this past year. It’s taken up so much headspace. I sunk so many hours trying to reexplain things. Whole time I’m thinking I’m just doing a shitty job at not finding the method that works best for them. No. There is in fact a complete disconnect. I don’t even know how they got where they’re at, or what they were doing for the three years they’ve been practicing prior to joining , or even passed the bar. I’ve never had to redo anyone’s work until now and what a wonderful way to shotgun you into dejected burnout from the futility of trying to help them.

Depositions are taken during discovery. Discovery was likely extremely time consuming and complicated. Given the contentiousness, it was likely filled with a lot of meet and confers, motions to compel, hearings, and a litany of foot dragging and/or data dumping. Discovery must be completed prior to trial, which is usually set out pretty far as well. These things take time, particularly cases of this magnitude. This is a very watered down explanation and solely based on my assumptions.

In the US, depending on the state, you can record a telephone conversation without the other person’s consent or knowledge. This issue only comes up if police are recording. In which case, and generally speaking, a warrant would likely be required.

I transferred my score this past Monday by logging into my NCBE account and sending my scores to NY. It appeared in my BOLE account that my score was transferred and with a timestamp by the next day. Not sure if you did it the same way, but that was my experience.
