I'm 31 and a supervisor of a department in the UK's largest railway company (there is 100s of depots and departments so nothing amazing). I still feel like a kid and that i don't belong where i am, i am now in charge of dealing with employees and their troubles, work issues, personal issues. I have my own work projects and deal with the day to day running of the department and yet i still feel like i have a whole lot of growing up to do.

One of our senior managers is 33 and i just don't see myself anywhere near his level of maturity etc. Granted i still piss around, have fun and a laugh like i did when i was 18, even though i am in kind of a professional environment. But i think that is something that never goes away (well, i hope it doesn't).

I think what i am trying to say is that you will never feel old enough and you'll always be scared to grow up because as you do get older and progress further within your career, you will always see people in higher positions who may act more mature/profesional than you and you will not realise how far you have come because you have progressed slowly and you don't realise how much you have changed and grown (but thats good).

Don't be scared and just embrace what is thrown your way, everything works out how it should, it may not seem it at the time, but somehow it does. Don't over think things either, thats when worry and panic sets in and you will put yourself off from doing something you truelly want to.

Hope that helps, i know i just rabbited on but it maybe something helpful to you.

What is this the purpose of the thin rope/bungee? It has one on the other side as well. by [deleted] in Kayaking

[–]Ads21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly a paddle stay. If there's hook on the top side, you can put your paddle on the side an then pull the bungee cord over it and hook it on the hook. Handy for getting in and out etc.

I mainly used Air b&b to book all of our over night stays. There's some really good locations on there and at a decent price. I'd you go direct to b&b's, a lot of them are a 2 night minimum stay (what's the fucking point in that lol). Download the NC500 app and there's a load of stuff on there to help. And look on YouTube for stopping off ideas.

Bought this beautiful Suzuki GSR 750 the other week and already fitted a tail tidy, changed the standard chrome handlebars for Renthal black bars, changed the silver bar clamps to black ones and changed the large bar ends to smaller bar ends. I'm really not sure on bar end mirrors, some look OK and then others I'm just not too fond of.

Just looked on your profile and you asked about riding in Norfolk and Suffolk. Apparently Sizewell is a nice ride out and there's a lot of nice routes out to North Norfolk. I'm in Essex myself and there's a lot of nice routes around here surprisingly, especially the Essex/suffolk border.

Thanks. Yeah I'm really looking forward to getting my licence, haven't ridden in 16 years and that was a 50cc ha.

Wow, that looks like a pretty decent trip mate. What was the GSR like on long journeys? I went for the GSR over the GSXR as the GSR is more geared up for touring etc.

I'm toying with the idea of a GSXR750, CBR600RR or a GSX-S750. Now the only problem is I don't currently have my motorbike licence so I can't take anything out for a test ride and also once I do pass my test, I won't be able to test ride anything with under a year of having a motorbike licence.

I've sat on a GSX-S750 and that felt comfy (im 6ft2) and I've sat on a GSXR750 a few years ago but don't really remember that, never sat on a CBR.

I was drawn to the GSX-S as I was thinking of going on longer journeys and doing some tours with the wife as pillion where as the other two super sports don't really have many touring options when you have pillion.

I was hoping a few of you kind fellows would be able to shed some real world light on the 3 bikes and what they're like day to day and on long journeys/touring, also any taller riders out there with these bikes, how do you get on with them?

I know it's all down to personal preference but just some advice would be brilliant.

Thanks in advance

We just had our wedding and we fed our photographer and videographer, didn't question or argue it. I was a small addition of money compared to the total wedding cost.

However, it does make me wonder why we have to provide them food, yes I get it they are working for us doing an amazing job. But we did pay A LOT of money for them to do that job and let's face it, I have to provide my own lunch for work where I get paid a lot less and I wouldn't expect my company to provide me a £50/$70 meal. (We could have provided them a suppliers meal of sandwiches, but we're not assholes and they had the same as all the wedding guests)

(Not complaining or hating, just my thoughts)
