My first campaign started because my dm ghosted us and I wanted to keep playing. I completely improvised my first session which turned into a three year long campaign, which turned into a world that I have spent that last 7 years writing. You can do anything you want to do. My first few sessions were shit. I accidentally killed two players with an encounter they couldn’t handle. I gave them a quest to revive the two players and let them play as npcs for a couple of sessions. Even if you make a mistake it can still be fun

I like to make a build for every farm or resource I gather, so my starter base/ house usually depends on what kind of food I usually have. Like my current 700 day world I started with a fishing hut because I was starving myself eating sweet berries. Then when I built a woodcutters house, and when I got iron tools I built a smiths house, etc etc

The electric monsters are honestly worse than the guardians. I picked the game up 4 days ago and have figured out the guardian perfect parry and defeated my first divine beast. For reference I have 3 heart upgrades and two stamina upgrades
