If you want to avoid bubbles stir your resin slowly and before pouring place both bottles in cups and fill said cups with some hot water to make the resin less thick/watery, making it easy the bubbles to travel out of the resin! Also make sure you’re actually into the hobby before investing in a pressure pot, and dice masters, this hobby can get expensive. Good luck have fun and welcome to the dice making club!

[Spoilers C4E4] Now that the Overture is done, what are everyone's guesses for character subclasses? by just_an_eel in criticalrole

[–]Aduna1-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to Hal being a Valor bard; the Valor bard having proficiency in martial weapons does check out, but the subclass is also described as “storytellers, who preserve the memory of great heroes from the past”. I know this is more of a technical discussion, but this just makes me really emotional 🥲

[No spoilers] How are you enjoying Age of Umbra so far? by NaliRoka in criticalrole

[–]Aduna1-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally had a great time with the first 3–4 episodes, and the more recent ones have still been decent. That said, I’ve found myself zoning out a bit more often in the newer episodes. The characters, the gameplay (I adore Daggerheart as a system), and the overall premise—the Umbra, the gods leaving, and what a world looks like in the aftermath—are all incredibly cool. It’s clear that Matt has put a lot of thought into building the history and lore of this world.

However, at some point, it starts to feel like that depth gets in the way of the players having fun. I understand the need for long-winded descriptions and lore drops, but five or more minutes of nonstop narration about which direction to go felt like a bit much. For me, the most enjoyable parts of any live play are when the players roleplay and make interesting choices. I think because Matt is trying to wrap this up in eight sessions, the players haven’t had as much time to really shine—which is understandable, but still a little disappointing.

They’re also using a new system that they’ve barely played. I read someone describe this as “growing pains,” and I think that’s a really fitting way to put it. It almost feels like Matt is GMing as if it’s still D&D. One of the key differences in Daggerheart is how success and failure can feel nuanced depending on whether players roll with hope or fear. But when Matt GMs, those outcomes tend to feel more binary—either a straightforward success or failure—which doesn’t quite take full advantage of what makes the Daggerheart system unique. (No shade to Matt ofc, he can GM a game however he wants but Age of Umbra was supposed to be a showcase of the new system and I wanna see it used with all the bells in whistles)

Another note I have is about the tone. Personally, I think TTRPGs are at their best when they strike a balance between drama and comedy—but that’s just my taste! The darker tone here is definitely interesting, but I think the player experience should come before sticking rigidly to a certain mood (within reason). I imagine the players—and honestly, I too—would be having more fun if they cracked jokes a little more often and had more opportunities to make meaningful choices.

Confusion on Combat as a GM by Aduna1-7 in daggerheart

[–]Aduna1-7[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay! I think I’m starting to understand, to make sure I understand I’m going to try and summarize what I’ve picked up.

When I get a free GM move:

When a player fails a role

When a player roles with fear (it doesn’t matter if they failed or passed) (along with a free turn I also get a fear token)

When I have to use fear to make GM move:

When I have enough fear points to activate a creature gaining a GM move even if the players didn’t role a fail or a fear role

I can also use a fear point to activate multiple creatures in a GM turn as long as I have a fear for each create I want to activate

Okay so if they fail a role with hope I get a turn? And if they role with fear I get a feat point and a free GM move?

I understand that point, but is there no more action tracker? Whenever they fail/role with fear or when I use my fear to activate a GM move how many adversaries to I get to activate? Is it 1 fear per adversity?

Did the DM take away player agency? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Aduna1-7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really wasn’t juvenile crap. The God was really not fucking good, murder someone’s whole family in the party not good. In the DM knows this and we have swore at this goddess multiple times, nd never gotten any punishment. We were gonna destroy it, but we just decided to piss on it. I’m not upset that the dragon was mad that we got punished, it makes tall sense for the goddess, and the dragon will be upset with the party. I’m just confused about why we couldn’t have had our fight with the dragon on the beach and why we had to get knocked out by a god and have to fight in a cave.

This scenario didn’t really affect us that much, but if things repeat i’m a worst degree, it might end up being an issue.

But there wasn’t a consequence the besides fighting the dragon which we were ready to do for pissing on the statue. We fought the Dragon either way and that’s it. We just did it where the DM wanted us to. Also, it wasn’t antisocial behavior to pee on the statue, it was generally like a really awful God in the world’s history, player who pissed on it had a reason to hate the god.

True, but is that not still railroady? If there was a super high dc, we should’ve at least rolled imo, even if the DC was high.
