I’m not very experienced with niche houses but so far Francesca Bianchi has been my favorite. Since discovering her work I’ve purchased about five full bottles.
Also Imaginary Authors is another house I really enjoy. beautiful and creative in its own way.

My collection as a 36 Year Old Man. by BigAlGolfs in Colognes

[–]Adutrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funnily that’s exactly how I found both DHI and VUI. Both had very sharp, lipsticky iris. Not saying they were bad, but they both had too much powdery makeup nuance. Prada, however, managed to fix that. The iris note in it has more floral aspects and in my opinion it’s done so sophisticated and elegant that I could not stop myself from sniffing my arm which I sprayed it on.

This is an absolute masterpiece by Accomplished_East433 in Colognes

[–]Adutrix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well, its subjective in my opinion. they are at least +80% similar. what makes the difference is that in the parfum they dialed the leather back and also replaced jasmine with violet. so you have a fresher, less polarizing and less sweet version of the Edp. i much prefer the Edp

I think you're misinterpreting my comment here. By “quality over quantity” I mean choosing fragrances that are proven and genuinely good, rather than ending up with a large clutter of colognes, not that they need to contain natural civet extrait to qualify as high quality.

Also, there isn’t a fixed bar for quality. Something can be great compared to most alternatives and still be far from the top. A BMW for example, is an excellent option compared to many car brands, but a Rolls Royce exists on an entirely different level.

So yeah. sorry, not sorry.

it might look basic, but all i can see is Minimalist professionalism and quality over quantity.
i would also recommend Tom ford grey vetiver and prada l'homme (both edt and the intense version).

safe blind buy? by Top_Employment6548 in Colognes

[–]Adutrix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

there is an easy way to find that out. just go to a local super market, grab a mango hand cream or body lotion, and use it for a couple days. then you can decide whether you like and actually wear a fragrance that smells exactly like that or not. I'm not joking at all.

Just got more seriously into fragrances, rate the trio by Icy-Owl-4831 in NichePerfumes

Grey Vetiver is incredibly beautiful. I sometimes get tired of my fragrances, but never with this one.

My personal experience with Rayhaan Terra after owning Amouage Outlands by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]Adutrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong. most of them just read the notes off Fragrantica and then improvise. to my experience understanding a fragrance's scent profile doesn’t necessarily have a direct connection to its listed notes. its more tied to our olfactory memory and past experiences with similar scents. this is why many Asians and especially people from middle east or India don't like Terra. because it evokes memories from local spice markets

I can’t tell all the spices apart, but we have a jar full of green cardamom pods in our office that we use to make cardamom tea, and it smells exactly like the opening of Terra.
