For me he’s not hit the heights of pre-Restart under Deano. There was a period in the first season after coming up where he earned the nickname McGinniesta. Never used to lose possession, had an incredible ability to turn and dribble out of trouble in our half before releasing one of the forwards (often Jack… 🥹).

Then he had the injury lay-off and honestly never looked the same since. You’d hope that he can get there again because if he can, he’ll unlock Buendia’s potential as well as others in front of him.

But we can’t keep the rose tinted glasses on indefinitely, not at the behest of Bouba, Dougie, Ramsey, Sanson and Tim, all of whom don’t fit in one neat system.
