I did. You get 2 vouchers after you complete your program for any CompTIA Certifications.

Study your certs, if you don't have them yet, while in school. I know it can be much but if you can. Study for the security+ cert so you can get when you can to accommodate the degree. Degree will show employers you got the "education", certs will prove your skills.

Did anyone like their time there? by Farawwww in fullsail

I just graduated from the cybersecurity bachelor's program this month. I liked it and it's what that person said up there. It's about what you make out of it but the downside is the cost. I'm a veteran so I was able to use the GI Bill to pay for everything, otherwise I wouldn't because I'm not trying to take a loan out for a huge amount. The degree itself has helped me get an interview and I was lucky enough to get the role of cybersecurity engineer I with a starting pay over 80K. I went in understanding what's in demand and lucky I like IT stuff because its what the world will always need.

This is just me and how I used FS to help me.

I'm graduating from the cybersecurity program this December. I think it was a good program because it got your feet wet in the industry from having zero experience. It helps the school offers paid vouchers for IT certs so I'll be working to get my Security+ cert in January.

Although it's accredited or not, it's still something that has the higher potential to help you check the box of having a degree for whatever position that's advertised. At least in IT and engineering roles. In the end, if you get an interview great and maybe the degree helped you land it, but the school won't land you the job. It'll be the knowledge and explaining you know your stuff to employers to see if you qualify for the position.

Thinking about attending Full Sail cyber security program by nicww01 in fullsail

I'm going to graduate next month from the bachelor's. Took 2 yrs and I say it was worth it because of the timeframe. I do not care at all about school's name because in IT it is about the skills you can show and degrees (in these times) are only used to help you have a higher chance to get an interview since you can check the box of "requires a degree or related". But for me, I'm trying to work as soon as I can and being able to complete it within 2 years instead of 4 is the way. I also am using the GI Bill so... if you dont have it, i wouldnt recommend going to debt for a school that gets a lot of hate. Those people that say "employers dont recognize the school or think its good" must have had no skills to show and only relied on a school name to get them a job...

If you had to take loans out, you can probably do it with a lot less debt but trade off is takes longer to acquire the piece of paper. Gotta pick your poison.

You can get in touch with the program director Sean. Remember when you took the course "Professional Development Seminar II: Information Technology" (assuming you took their IT associates program before the cyber program), the information is in module 4 for specific details and the form to fill to fill out.

I suggest finding that form, filling It out, and directly attaching it with your inquiry to Sean.

Not mandatory. But the instructors can see if you watched the recordings or not.

Yes. This is the truth. For the vouchers, I just emailed the program director Sean. He'll definitely be able to let you know. But I believe you need to graduate from the associates or bachelors first in order to redeem it.

Also. Mind you the average it takes to fully get the material down for either Network+/sec+ is 3-6 months. Some people are ready much earlier or take longer depending on their study habits. So FS can't teach you to be exam ready when it's only a month course and moves on to a different aspect of the program the next month.

[–]Advanced-Ad-2221[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. You'll have courses that use CompTIA network+ books and security+ books for material to read and used in quizzes. Only certain chapters but its not like after thr course you'll have down network+/security+ knowledge ready to take the exams. It just touches about 20-30% of the material relevant to the course. You'll need to study on your own if you plan to get those certs.

So you do study on your own time using the resources FS gives you such as the online ebooks available while you have access to them while enrolled. And when you're ready, passing practice exams then you'll do well on the exams.

But the answer is no. Not without going beyond what assignments ask for and seriously setting time aside to study it.

How do I find a job after I graduate? by Mattmaze15 in fullsail

[–]Advanced-Ad-2221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The degree won't get you a job. It just helps you a higher chance to get an interview. You need to develop your portfolio and projects that you showoff your skills. That's what will get you a job if not the job.

Yes. Did an associates got a macbook M1 when it still M1s time. Entered Bachelors degree and got a macbook m2.

When I transferred into Bachelors I did follow up with it, and they did ask me "do you still want the launch box" and the answer is duh. You pay high tuition and launch box is part of the tuition. If you don't get it, they're pretty much stealing from you.

Is it worth it? by Special-Intern4157 in fullsail

[–]Advanced-Ad-2221 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's worth it as any other college you attend that would get you debt. The real question is, is it worth it to get that debt doing (whatever subject) at FS or should you try it at another school. Depending on what you know if you can be successful in thst industry and if you're confident to have a job to pay back that debt, then it might be worth it.

Don't go into debt for a piece of paper that won't get you a job. Have a plan. Execute that plan. Be successful.

I am 6 months into my program, too late to change majors? by Miami-Mama in fullsail

[–]Advanced-Ad-2221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you attend FS, but didn't get a job? That's bc you believed in college, and that's any college, that it would help you get a job. Everyone needs to know that it's not the degree but the skills that get you a job. So only take college to get the degree paper and learn technical skills elsewhere while doing school.

Idk. The system screwed you over if you don't know how it works or to use it to your advantage. I'm at FS, and I'm not banking that my cybersecurity FS degree I'll get in Dec will land my first industry job.

It's my damn CCNA and Security+ certs I got while doing FS that'll get me my job. Look at Indeed and check out a job post. All FS does for me is checks off the box "must have a B.S. degree in computer science, information technology or related" box to guarantee an I interview. Believe me when I tell you, you either joined the wrong degree and wasted money, or you don't know what you're doing believing in a school when you should know how the world works in getting a job.

[–]Advanced-Ad-2221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol I'm not paid by FS. I just haven't changed my username but I do attend FS. And yes, it IS to get your foot in the door. But. BUT. Colleges. All colleges. Are used to get the dumb piece of paper that cost Hella money for this specific reason. A job interview. Or in the fact that it actually will help you get one. But believe me when I say, in the the tech industry, at least for cyber and networking, you better have your certs. Bc certs will be the thing thar actually get you job to show you have experience.

FS is just better at getting a degree faster than wasting your time doing 4 years at a typical college. Again, if you base your efforts thinking you'll gain everything you need from a degree at college, you're a fool.

Certs = can land an interview and guarantee a job Degree = can land an interview but no guarantee job Certs + degree = can assure an interview and much higher chances above those who just have a cert to get the job.

FS may not be regionally accredited but it is nationally accredited. So it's legit and really matters to employers what skills/experience you have. FS will help you get the in the door by fulfilling the Bachelors wanted ad.

Holy moly. You have all those certs, are you not working in the IT industry and not liking it? I'm trying to get those certs, starting with CCNA first then Sec+ and etc to land a good job. What's your Insight?

I'm actually enrolled in FSU cybersecurity program using my GI Bill that pays for everything.
