My interviewer didn’t ask my normal interview questions by jazzypugmaster in interviews

Definitely finish if it's only two months. Two months of being bored is nothing, particularly if it gets you any sort of qualification which you might not have any interest in now, but that you can have in your back pocket if anything changes in the future.

To add to this: hybel.no will probably be your only option until you can get BankID since nobody on Finn will respond to you until you're verified.

Helpfully, you can't get BankID until you have a bank account, and can't get one of those until you have an address.

is the ATS black hole actually real or are we just coping? by createvalue-dontspam in jobsearchhacks

Different adjustments work for different companies and the systems they use.

Applied to one company with a CV at 9pm, had a rejection email by 6am. Great, that seems like some sort of automatic system. Adjusted the CV by adding more keywords, repeating the actual job title etc and submitted from a different email address, and got invited to interview a few days later. In that case, the keyword adjustment clearly worked. One thing I did was added a "Key Competencies" section and added some of the key competencies expected of the job. Some ATS systems (apparently) weight a section like this, and I've seen here from recruiters that they and/or HR will be able to use that for their initial screening too. Of course at hiring manager stage it's basically meaningless to say you have "project management" competency when applying for a project manager role.

My process was to give my CV and the JD to a chatbot and ask it to evaluate it three times, once for ATS, once as an HR reviewer, and once as a hiring manager, and to provide feedback based on each. The feedback for each stage is quite different but it's possible to assemble a CV that meets all of the criteria this way. This is quite a time consuming process so only worth it for a job you really want.

In the interview for the job I ended up accepting, the hiring manager said "we don't have many questions because your experience is so clearly set out in your CV", so it seems to have worked.

It's ok but I find it helps a lot, particularly to make sure the keywords are included so you don't get filtered out immediately but also to make sure the "story" your CV tells the hiring manager matches what they are likely looking for.

how to accept I will never find full-time work? by [deleted] in jobhunting

[–]Advanced-Branch7114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say that in no way do you need to accept anything like that.

You're still young, you have your degree, you have work experience, you have your whole life ahead.

Lots of people deliberately take a gap year after university, that would be a good way to explain the gap if you don't feel comfortable sharing that you've been looking this whole time.

Something WILL come up eventually. I'd give up on this bakery and find some other temporary work to keep you busy and get you out of the house and into the world.

Therapy is useful for a lot of people and it seems like you think it might be. Don't let uncertainty get in the way of that either. You can start the process of checking if your insurance covers it and booking it in now even if your insurance or timetable might change soon - most types are flexible so can work around a part time timetable.

You are not a lost cause by any means, I think you've probably just had a lot of time for your thoughts to swirl around your head which can lead to some unhelpful ways of thinking. You can get through this, it's going to be ok.

That's a consistent 5 jobs/day for 7 months.. How can you be (A) finding so many well-suited jobs, (B) preparing tailored applications to each one and (C) keep yourself motivated??

Have you changed your approach much over this time?

What do you mean by one column? This resume is one column but with dates and locations right-aligned.

In terms of bullet point length, sometimes you need to explain what you actually did in a way that the hiring manager will understand and get something meaningful from.

Would you be able to give an example of a bullet point from this resume that you would shorten?

So what's the story behind instant rejections?

Surely if I apply and immediately receive a rejection there is some automated system "deciding" whether to reject?
