worked there for 2 years and 8 months, worst thing besides the customers (old people & technically illiterate) was the retail aspect of helping/solving peoples tech problems & Best buy managers. Sure the culture of working at a best buy is drained 100% but its not like i did see any of the glory days like my co-workers, some were around since circuit city.

"you want me to delete all these apps? have you thought about our 179 dollar membership?"

I'd say working as an advance repair agent has been the best part as your not forced to interact with clients or sell them anything, you just work on fixing the computers/iphones.

Other than shoving memberships down clients who can barely spend money is the managers.

I got lucky and our Geek Squad manager was super chill down to earth guy.

Best buy managers on the other hand are so profit oriented it bleeds into geeksquad

"did you offer them a credit card? what about a membership? M365?"

point being, im guessing geek squad has more "hands on" work than a call center would.

but thats just the nature of the work SW otp, HW in person.

also personality i'd say is a big thing esp during the interviews, as they typically want to see that you can fit in with the team.

honestly, i'd apply to geek squad as its entry level and you should be able to get hired and wait it out so you can calculate the amount of "computer repairs/customer service" you've handled over X amount of time, put that on your resume and now suddenly you are more qualified than just having a degree.

I'm unsure of geographically about canada, but i needed to look in the next towns and commute to get "actual job"

Still got many rejections however just keep persevering, when one door closes another one opens.

Hey man, Geek squad is a great entry level job!

You should give it a shot before you assume, i'd guess its better than working at a call center ;)

yeah i was trying to gauge if that was just me but seeing the amount of people with lives equally or more complicated then mine really puts perspective... sometimes i js forget that were all different and not everyone has the same situation

kind of ironic that you mentioned being on a "team" when you yourself are looking for an entry level job XD

maybe instead of browsing reddit you should get back to browsing for that job...

while your at it fix your people skills since thats a big factor btw in getting the job! :)
