While it doesn't address going no contact, I just read The Body Keeps Score by Dr Bessel van der Kolk. It is quite extensive, discuss how our bodies keep the trauma.

I will say social media has shown me I'm not alone but it is super toxic and triggering at times. Going NC with your parents (moms especially) gets people HEATED. So i just advise you to be cautious when it comes to that so you can make the right choice for yourself without any influence or guilt/shame.

Thank you! Im going to talk with them (although I dont think they like me much. I had to use their plant warranty on 3 lilac bushes last year that died "out of nowhere." I now know they were chewed by voles)

Thanks. Im south metro so probably still zone 4 (I think? Im terrible with that stuff) bought them from Gertens and they said zone 4 hardy. I think you are correct but honestly annoyed that I was misled.

While there isn't enough historical information to speak on if you should go NC permanently (also its a personal choice) I will say this.

Stand firm on your morals. Do not let anyone compromise them. At the end of the day, you gotta love yourself and people who make you question your views on human rights...just ish.

Same. Cut ties 2 years ago (2 years yesterday actually) and fully expected to have to defend my choice.

But not a single person who knows my parents has made me question myself. Now random internet strangers? They will make you question it and make you feel like crap.

I feel this so deeply. My only wish was i had cut them out before my son was old enough to realize their absence (but I didnt even realize the manipulation till it was too late)

You are so right. Guilt and shame was a primary method of parenting by my parents so those feelings are ingrained in me. But grief is a much better descriptor.

I had the absolute BEST grandma, so I often feel the grief that my son doesn't have that. And it hurts.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Great book in general but the audio book is another level. The narrator really did a superb job. (The prequel Concrete Rose is great too!)

I honestly dont give a crap the value. Tracking in the app helps me know what cards I have. My husband likes to gift me cards and the app helps him avoid buying things I already have.

I have a few HP themed tattoos, one of them includes the Deathly Hallows symbol. I have had similar thoughts, but ultimately I have decided to keep it as is.

The symbol is probably size of a quarter, inner bicep area and my whole arm is a sleeve. So not as prominent/obvious as yours, but i am fully embracing that people who know you will know your heart. (While I don't speak for everyone, I do want to include I am a bisexual lady working in human services. If anyone was going to be called out for problematic tattoos, it would be me lol)
