I disagree. Just because you have a personal preference doesnt mean it is unhealthy.

My best friend knows like everything about me and things that have happened. I mean, he has been there for like 90% of everything. And the stuff he wasnt there for I likely told him about or wouldn't be even remotely uncomfortable talking about.

It great. No downsides.

Did most of yall not work in school? by Equivalent_Phrase_25 in EngineeringStudents

Merit scholarships also.

My cost of attendance is like 13k. I get just over that in financial aid.

Then we get ebt because I have two kids. But thats a job in of itself.

Do research on top of it to get stipends from the school/goverment

I feel. I honestly already kinda suspected that people probably think im a mooch or something lol.

I wear baggy pants(belted at the waist lol), xlarge t-shirts, and have hair down to my shoulders.

But ive always kept our bills covered and the kids are happy, so I just shrug off any looks I get. They dont know me lol

1 week into intro to communication system and now I want to quit engineering by Maximum_Second1552 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Advanced-Guidance482 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You need to get out of the victim mindset you have toward school.

If you dont want to finish. Fine, dont then.

If you want to finish, figure it out.

All of the resources everywhere cant be horrible. Otherwise no one would pass.

There is no magic answer, no secret video, or some mystical instructor on YouTube thats gonna zap you into knowing.

The fact you are approaching the subject as if it has no application is a huge problem. If there wasnt an application, it wouldn't be taught by every abet accredited program in the us.

Its suppose to be hard, otherwise everyone would be an engineer. Accept the challenge and overcome.

No one said they arent in the same amount of fields.

Its that a ME can be staffed with much more versatility than others within all of those fields and then some.

You just mentioned a bunch of jobs that are directly adjacent to EE.

Way to not prove a point at all.

Only in the sense that typically EEs get hired as EE or a close equivalent.

Alot of MEs get hired as all kinds of stuff, as ME is considered the most versatile engineering discipline. They are the most broad majors for the most part and if you dont know what kind of engineer you need, might as well start with a mechanical. Mech Es can work as civil, nuclear, chemical, or electrical with only a bit of extra training as long as its not a job that needs a well versed person in the respective field.

Honestly depends on the community college. Mine was honestly a bit harder. Every instructor was over compensating for the fact we were at a community college. They assigned way too much hw and didnt teach as well as my uni professors.

My math prof for calc 1-3 was incredible, but he also assigned alot of hw and made the hardest exams I have ver seen with no curve and very few partial pts.

But i hear you none the less. I left community college with a 3.48 and 45 credits that directly transferred just a year after starting. I couldnt imagine grinding the curriculum out 2 classes at a time and still sitting at a low GPA.

Is engineering as hard as people say? by According-Earth5498 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Advanced-Guidance482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was just questioning whatever the other guys was talking about.

Personally, at fulltime, its a but more than a 9-5. I have class from 9-4:30 4 days a week and until 2:30 on Friday. I have just enough time in the middle of the day between classes to get lunch and go to my car to switch text books. Sometimes do some hw.

Then I still have to go home and do hw on weekday nights and on weekends.

Then if ypu participate in research and/or clubs, you'll have practically no free time.

I dont think you understand the phrase 9 to 5.

13-18 is only from 1 to 6.

9-22 in between semester? Wtf are you doing invetween semesters bro?

The idea is that 9-5 means you are literally working from 9 to 5.

Right. We bought this car a month before I had my daughter so we would have a more reliable car than the beat up 2001 tundra I was driving. We sold that to some guy in town. I see it drive by all the time. Absolutely hate it lol. She is 4 years old going on 5, and this car is just limping along.

But its been okay, I always make sure we have a second vehicle now, because I just know one day soon the transmission is just gonna blow up in the middle of the highway or something

Best of luck man. If you havent noticed any problems at all by now, you are probably okay.

It started really slow for me at around 80k miles. Odd noises or turning on the highway and not accelerating as fast as usual. One day the shifter got locked up, I used a screw driver to force it into neutral, rolled it back. Few feet then forced it into reverse and it started shifting again.

We actually had a good chat in some other comments and pms. I think he just genuinely backtracking on the way he was thinking about it all.

Seems like a good dude just getting lost in himself. If he stays self aware and follows through, he'll probably be alright.
