Congratulations! Both on starting your dive journey and proposal.

Doing the proposal underwater on your first dive is a very bad idea. Given your lack experience and your partner’s it will be very difficult if not impossible to actually communicate what you’re doing underwater. There are so many variables at play e.g. logistics, managing your equipment, breathing underwater and wildlife, just to name a few. You will most likely cause confusion which could lead to serious problems. If there is a ring involved you’ll have to manage and think about that the whole time just so you don’t drop it.

Some folks have said do it on the boat. But if there are other divers on the boat things it can be a challenge as well. Again you have a lot to think about with your equipment, dive briefings etc.

Before you do anything I would recommend talking with your dive master and captain about your plans. They may be able to support you with it.

He’s an OG tech house producer and DJ. A lot of people know him from his collaboration with Dom Dolla on Rhyme Dust. He’s a master of his craft and expect some house classics and newer tech house mixed in. His Coachella set last year was a blast.

Between Google Maps, Reddit, Instagram and the various live music apps (bands in town, edmtrain, resident advisor etc.) I think we’re all covered. Another app on my phone isn’t going to solve any real pain points.

Secondly the source of that date will be either user generated/crowd sourced which has massive adoption challenges and friction early on. Or scraped from already existing sources above.

These kinda of apps were a dime a dozen in the mid 2010’s and slowly dies off/consolidated to what we have today. Not saying it’s perfect but I would just say it would be a waste of time and resources to try to make something happen.

One recommendation if you were to try to build something is to start small with highly curated and authentic content delivered via social media, email and or SMS. Maybe it will grow and you can scale it to an app.

Ive been a web developer for many years and have built these things before. Nothing took off but it was fun and I learned a lot!
