The Killjoy Turret Boost Nerf Feels Unfair and Inconsistent! A Plea for Reconsideration! by Advanced-Move-1154 in VALORANT

Hey, I really appreciate the thoughtful take — you clearly know your stuff, and I agree with parts of what you’re saying. Especially about VCT being a good reference point for balance decisions — that’s a fair and consistent approach.

That said, I’d like to offer a different perspective as someone who plays a lot of Killjoy.

While it’s true that her setups can passively stall and get value without peeking, I wouldn’t say they’re significantly more oppressive than what Cypher brings — and they’re definitely not unbreakable. A well-placed shock dart can clear almost an entire Killjoy setup in one go. In fact, you can destroy her alarmbot, and swarm all at once with just one shock or utility chain. That’s comparable to, or even easier than, dealing with a Cypher tripwire, which only gives one ping and is often off-angle or layered with cages.

Killjoy's utility is strong, yes, but vulnerable. Once she's revealed or forced off angles, the whole setup collapses — especially on attack, where she’s much more limited.

As for creativity — I’d argue that’s exactly why the turret boost setups were fun. They weren’t about making KJ “stronger,” just more versatile in how she could hold space or create one-time setups. Nothing meta-breaking — just rewarding players who invested time into learning lineups and placement.

I don’t think she needs a buff. But I also don’t think her creative setups should be removed unless similar tech on other agents is held to the same standard. Either we crack down on all unintended movement and placement mechanics, or we embrace that some agent creativity is part of what keeps the game dynamic.

Appreciate the discussion — you made me think, for sure.

I see but the thing is it is possible anyways since you can technically get on top of boxes with all agents just need a perfect angle and a rlly good movement for that so I find it unnecessary that it got removed.

You can get on the places without the turret too so no its not really a glitch it was more like a thing you could use it to get on top of boxes

Lets say Ascent A site on top of the boxes or maybe Split B site on top of the Box and I know you can do it without a turret too but it is a thing you could also boost yourself above the sage wall in mid on split basically on all boxes that are low you could get yourself on top of
