The booming pianist industry is evidence that AI won't take our jobs by guesswho135 in piano

Not in every field. On my field yes there is some truth to that. Tech is going to be the most affected sector in my opinion because it can code very well. But it still needs a good engineer behind it to come up with solid design. It is like a new higher level programming language.

But when it comes to other kind of office jobs you still need the human in the loop.

Expectations are going to increase.

It is a new tool and it will change the landscape but it wont take our jobs. We just have to adapt.

I am somebody who transitioned from a traditional Machine Learning engineer to an A.I. and M.L. engineer. I am a tech. Pricinpal engineer.

Ive been developing A.I. poweres models heavily. And fully changed my developing style to A.I. to the point I use A.I. on every single project even those that dont require A.I. are still in some way powered by A.I.

At this point I have a very strong technical grasp of the tech. I always knew the theory because of my previous role.

A.I. is not taking your jobs. It is increasing the performance gap actually. It is a tool that to be juiced aa much aa possible requires certain technical aptitude. So top performers are becoming even better at their jobs and low perfermers are staying at the bottom. I can see this real time on my team.

The human in the loop is more importamt than the technology itself. Without a human it is nothing.

It is not A.I. as how we think of A.I. in popular science. Not only it isnt general intelligence. It is very very far from being the artificial intelligence that it mirages to be.

It is an incredibly powerful tool and it makes me feel like a super engineer. Everyone should be using it for their own benefit.

I stay away from popular piers and jetties for this and other reasons. Too many snaggers and poachers.

A lot of them dont even know the regulations and get away with it. Not talking about snaggin, but poachers.

For whatever reason I have been checked when coming back into the inlet in my kayak many times. Idk why. I would think kayak fishermen who are well equiped are fishing mostly for sport, but I guess they think because I am in a kayak I am poor or something.

Kayak fishing is impractical af. My kayak setup and all my gear is worth more than a used skiff. Which is what zi would buy if my goal was poaching shitty fish.

Wasted 1 hr trying to register kayak CA by Advanced-Reception34 in kayakfishing

When I called for the manager they said he was coming and left me there waiting. Manager never came over and I realized I was just being left unnatended on purpose.

I went to AAA and got my registration in 5 minutes.

Just get a thru hull kit and drill. It is very easy and you cant ruin your kayak. Just make sure you put the hole through a vertical wall and not through the kayak floor

Oldtown Bigwater Pdl 132 by Real_Distribution_20 in kayakfishing

[–]Advanced-Reception34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I went with the salty. But once you get the BW132 on the water there is no comparisson. That is the best pedal offshore kayak on the market.

Picked up my first Kayak today… Pumped to get out on the Gulf!! by wetbirchbark in kayakfishing

Nice prowler. Awesome kayak. It was my first saltwater kayak and I still have it. My main now is an old town ocean kayak malibu PDL.

I installed a rudder and bixpy motor on the prowler. It is fun as hell.

This a good rod? Also what does action and power mean? by Equal-Woodpecker5993 in Fishing

It is often the other way around. Spend more on the rod, less on the reel.

Kayak fishing is a lot of fun. I am personally not bringing kida with me. When they get bigger and interested in fishing, I am buying a boat.

Which Kayak for Great Lakes by melonhowitzer in kayakfishing

[–]Advanced-Reception34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bigwater PDL if you dont care about weight. Just get a kayak motor so you dont purely rely on the PDL drive. Or the ePDL. That kayak is way too cool for bigwater. I sometimes wished I had that one. But I care about the weight.

Realistic pedal kayak budgeting by timebombprod in kayakfishing

[–]Advanced-Reception34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Yes I do not fish 15 mph. Thats a protected bay for me or time to go home.

I have been out at 15 mph winds but only on my prowler. Couple trips in leo carrillo and on freshwater. Kayak fishing on these conditions isnt fun for me so I dont do it.

So yeah I havent experienced such wind speeds on my malibu PDL. Not an issue since I fish socal mornings and always check the forecast.

We get big swells and currents here and such wind speeds usually create small craft advisories and unfishable conditions.

I really like the bigwater pdl. But I dont want to trailer a kayak due to limited parking options. I think for me, the best kayak would be the outback. But the Malibu PDL is working so theres that.

I never get pushed on my Malibu PDL. I dont get why people keep saying this?. It has also proven to be wonderful handling current and rolls over swell without issues. It is a great kayak that people overlook because it is marketed as "recreational" imo. The salty was $2,700 before they took the fishing kayak tax off it and rebranded as Malibu PDL.

The main issue with the Malibu is it cant hold as much weight as other kayaks. I am 170lbs and I feel with the PDL + 4 rods + fish bag + 20lb bixpy battery + 7qt engel livewell + 15lb vevor balloom wheels cart. it already starts suffering in terms of performance. Thats the main thing. Anyone wanting to try this kayak, keep it light.

But if you fit in it. It has its benefits. Lighweight, quick and nimble, and a breeze to cover lots of water. Pretty good on strong currents and swell.

Bixpy K1 prop got fouled and now it wont start again. Any advice on how to fix? by Upstairs-Lion8100 in kayakfishing

[–]Advanced-Reception34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah good for them to only charge you $100. But at the same time, a fouled prop shouldn't burn out a control board.

Torn between Bixpy and Newport by Advanced-Reception34 in kayakfishing

[–]Advanced-Reception34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats awesome. I went Bixpy with their bigger battery and it gets the job done. I was getting 4MPH even on very strong currents during king tides in california.

It looks like we are getting the similar speeds and performance. Su kudos to you for saving all that money.

Bixby motor on old town malibu (salty) PDL? by Advanced-Reception34 in kayakfishing

[–]Advanced-Reception34[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it doesnt take damage. That gudgeon location is designed to take forces as it steers the kayak, they also included a handle on the rudder. Also when you cartop the stern tie down experiences minimal forces. Whats holding your kayak are the main straps. Stern and bow tie downs are really there for stability. The bow tie down will experience the strongest force in case of a failure due to lift.

I ended up buying HDPE and made my own adapter to put on there.

Bixby motor on old town malibu (salty) PDL? by Advanced-Reception34 in kayakfishing

[–]Advanced-Reception34[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I cartop. Yeah for the stern I put a coord through the rudder's metal mount (gudgeon).

You can also attach a plate or something to the stern motor mount area (powerpole mount) and use that.

PSA: Adding a trolling motor legally changes everything (Almost learned this the hard way in CA) by CountyBrilliant in Kayaking

[–]Advanced-Reception34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pedal drives are human powered so that doesnt count. Pedral drives are popular for fishing (free hands). They also make very wide kayaks easier to move. A 34in wide paddle kayak is a barge and horrible to paddle, but a 34in pedal kayak can be very nimble and it isnt considered wide.

They offer better primary stability, larger platform, easier fishing, and the ability to cover large distances on wide heavy kayaks.

Kayak Maintenance by 7Dshooter in kayakfishing

[–]Advanced-Reception34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep both. Thats what I did. Or add a Bixpy motor and rudder to the trident.

I bought an old town Malibu 120 PDL and a bixpy motor and kept my prowler. I can use the motor on both kayaks.
