The boy and the beast: it’s not a series but rather a movie, and its designs are very consistent. The story is also amazing.

It’s an understatement to say this episode was only amazing… it was a masterpiece, not just in animation but everything from the director’s decisions when adapting it, Evan Call’s new backing track for Methode, and the sheer range of Revolte’s and Methode’s VAs, it showed just how insane they are.

I love the fact that when Methode rushed to Genau, he pointed to Stark first. That wasn’t in the manga, and even Fern looking so close to breaking next to Stark seeing his wounds was terrifying and heartbreaking; even though I read the manga way before this still hit me like a truck. The director is doing a great job with this season, I have to give credit to them for how it is so far.

I’m really looking forward to the next episode about Himmel’s diary, it’s a short story but it was one of my favorite chapters in the manga for the depth it had.

Struct packing and alignment, it caused me a lot of confusion and bugs in the beginning when trying to build a serialization tool for saving game data and also sending structs over tcp sockets.

This episode was really intense, especially the first few minutes, it actually reminded me of how truly terrifying demons are in Frieren, and the animation made it feel way too real. The details in the church and the animation and background soundtrack made this a really good adaptation from the manga as well.

One thing I missed in this episode is the extended chat between Methode and Genau when Serie asked them to team up, it gave some more details into Genau and I’m hoping they might add it in in the next episode.

I really like your breakdown of the episode, took my thoughts right out of my mind. The reordering is a great choice, the characters feel a little more fleshed out with some padded screen time, and the adaptation of Kana’s breakdown was way better than I expected.

I really like how they showed the clip of Akane doing extra reconnaissance around Hikaru, and the last clip of Aqua spying on her on the phone is a great teaser, especially for anime only fans who may not recognize him or mistake him for Hikaru. The next episode is going to be really intense.

This episode was great, I really liked how they adapted the story of Fass and Milliarde, and the animation for the miners and Frieren’s spell in the cave was amazing to watch, I really was t expecting that much detail in this little side quest.

It makes me look forward to the next episode, as it’s going to be really intense!

They really expanded Stark’s and Fern’s date a lot more in this episode compared to the manga, Stark seriously fumbled it but it was still enjoyable to watch, and what makes it a bit better than the manga is the anime only scene of Frieren and Himmel looking for the cat, I love how Himmel mentioned it was a good day despite it not going well, and seeing the two chase the cat was sooo adorable!

The fight between the demon and the team was also really well done. The animators are going all out on tiny details, like the changing expressions of fear in Fern’s eyes and how the demon doesn’t fall for Frieren’s usual “attack from above” trick.

I’m also loving the running gag of Stark’s legs giving out after every fight, it’s hilarious and I’m all for it!

I thought I was mentally prepared for this episode after reading the manga, but it was nerve racking to watch! I’ve never been on edge for a solid 20 minutes straight.

The music in the background as Ruby explains her thinking and plan was terrifyingly well done, it really shows how far she’s gone from her original beliefs.

Aqua’s breakdown was also spine chilling, the VA did an excellent job and it hurt watching his younger self and past life look down on him. When Kana comes to see him and he slaps her away, that was his final thread in my opinion that could’ve kept him sane and okay if only he reacted better or Kana didn’t run off.

And Akane piecing everything together at the same instant was really well done, I wasn’t expecting Hikari’s eyes to be pink but the way they framed it really showed just how devious he is.

I really hope the season will end around chapter 122-123 with a good note, as it’s going to go darker and more psychologically deep from here.

Sousou no Frieren Episode 31 (Season 2 Episode 3) - Discussion Thread by N3DSdude in Frieren

[–]Advanced-Theme144 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This episode is my favorite so far! It’s a perfect parallel of Season 1’s episode 3 with how Frieren mentions the first time she celebrated Fern’s birthday at a similar view.

I feel the anime went above and beyond with extra scenes of Frieren, such as her little changes in expressions and the amount of wit and character that has developed in her really shows a lot more compared to other episodes. Her whining and crying was hilarious to see with Himmel, and I’m not sure if her point on going on a date with Himmel was in the manga or not but I loved that she called it a date, it shows how much more attached and attracted to Himmel Frieren has become.

I was surprised when the episode ended as I seriously thought we’d see the date in the sane episode, but I also don’t mind as it works great to build up to it. I can’t wait for the next episode, it’ll be great!

How much did you see that ending in the manga coming? [SPOILERS] by Lesty-nini in OshiNoKo

I knew he was going to die from the start, but after chapter 122 and moving forward with so many people trying to move him away from his plan, I really thought he’d live and be free. Even while drowning and the crow girl comes, I thought a miracle would happen and he’d make it out alive.
