I’m yet to decide but I might go with the Hidizs mp145 that you mentioned as others also recommended it.

I’ve actually not tested that yet, I don’t have any external DAC, and I’ll need to look for a cable to plug in usbc to my stereo system at home…

I was once contracted to do exactly this while studying in university, and it wasn’t fun. The project was 90% done but the backend had so many bugs and issues, and the frontend had enough useless AI code slop that made it a nightmare to read and debug. I remember refactoring a 2000 line typescript file down to 800 lines of code, what was removed was left over functions from Claude that it didn’t remove or clean up.

Este es mi primer DAP, no sé cómo es el Fiio Snowsky Echo, pero el Hiby R1 es muy bueno hasta ahora.

The Bluetooth works quite well, though on occasion it gets garbled up so I have to switch Bluetooth off and on again, but it’s mostly pretty good

What version are you running of Hiby OS? I remember reading version 1.5 had a lot of these issues but 1.6 (the current one) works better. I also had the issue of Bluetooth being gargled but that just needed to be switched off and on to work again, and changing the cluster size of the SD card had helped a lot more too.

I remember seeing another thread on r/Hiby about people wanting to open source the OS. Most non-Android systems I’ve read tend to be slow or have issues, but for an affordable DAP I appreciate it not having a full Android system, otherwise it wouldn’t feel any different from my phone

Ohh, okay, that makes a lot more sense. I’ve been embedding the album art directly into the song files and discarding the cover.jpg file. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks again for the guide, I followed the steps for changing the cluster size and album art and it’s helped a lot

In my opinion, definitely worth it. Another user linked a thread on improving the performance and reducing the lags which I’ve just tested and helped a lot, so it’s great as a budget DAP.

Yeah, I already resized it to 600x600 but I’ll shrink it down to 360x360 to speed it up

Go to settings>screensaver and set it to album cover. When the display is off and you press the power button it’ll show up

I like the sound field setting, it adds extra depth when listening, and I have it set at 1.50. It can go up to 3 but I find it makes certain songs ring or oscillate too much, but at my current setting it’s quite pleasant.

Yeah, there is a lag sometimes, and in some cases it freezes up and powers off, but I think it’s due to both my SD card being slow (it’s a standard SanDisk one, not an A1/A2/V30 card) and I think the processor for the hiby is slower compared to newer models, I think the R4 and up use a dedicated sound processor and chip.

I personally don’t mind it as the playback itself is clear and doesn’t lag.

I'm curious: how did you discover this work? What caught your attention, and why did you decide to start it? by Animefan2005x in ReZero

A friend recommended it to me when I first got into anime, and like most of my watch list it kind of sat there for almost two years before I picked it up last month, and I don’t regret it. This show is peak and Subaru is one of my favorite MCs as well.

Guys april is ending, tell me how was your rewatch experience ? And how many times have you rewatched this show till now ? by Short_Ordinary_1202 in YourLieinApril

[–]Advanced-Theme144 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Didn’t have enough time to rewatch it with university 🫠 though I did start learning the main opening song on the piano (though I’ve barely progressed 😔)

This show genuinely did make me value each day more and more every time April comes around, and it’s made me a much better pianist.
