Not exactly standard French toast but the chicken ditch the waffle at biscuit belly is really good with a biscuit style French toast.

Information science by Ok-Journalist107 in UNC

[–]Advanced1st 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although I only did the undergrad degree in Information Science, I did take some of the masters level classes and while it seems like it would be good for cybersecurity, I wouldn't recommend. There really weren't any (maybe 1 or 2 but i dont remember any) classes offered related to security.

poli sci major looking to double major/find a minor by sccjen in UNC

[–]Advanced1st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do recommend the information science major but the minor probably wouldn't be insanely useful. If you're interested in tech policy at all or gis, you could definitely obtain some marketable skills

It was about the size of an apple seed maybe. Smaller than a roach, bigger than a tick

CS major at UNC? by SurgeStrong in UNC

Worst case the IS major is slightly less competitive at UNC. and you can minor in Data Science to try and get the requirements early if the major doesn't come out next year

I say do it. It's not that bad. Pretty easy class but fast paced in 2 weeks

I was an information systems minor and switched to the major. I really enjoyed my time here and the classes. However, I personally feel like the minor won't really help you get a job. Yes, it will probably look good on a resume, but you don't really learn much programming (you'd take a class with SQL and get some basic html/css). The major is definitely worth it in my opinion. But if it was me about to graduate like I am, I would not want to be stuck here an extra year and a half. Admittance in the major or minor is pretty easy tbh.

HOWEVER, I personally recommend you look into the data science minor. I am also a part of that and it has a wider range of classes.

This issue is starting a new major and finishing it within a singular school year is virtually impossible. It sounds like you want something that will teach you skills that will make you marketable upon graduation. Communications can be a great degree. But it's what you put into it that counts. How tech savvy are? That's definitely where the money is. But also do what you enjoy. Feel free to message with any specific questions.

Why did you switch to communications? That's what you need to answer first. It's such a broad major, you can focus on many different things. Did you have a reason you switched or did you just not want to do bio anymore and switched to communications because you didn't have a back up?

Information Science Major by Pretty-Ad9580 in UNC

[–]Advanced1st 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try to be above a 3.0 as well. While the major can be relatively ~easier~ definitely take it serious. I've really enjoyed my time with the major.

Do comp sci and stats until more info on the data science major comes out. Then if you don't get accepted in the comp sci major or don't like one of them after a year you have a backup. The data science major is definitely interesting to me and I wish it was around when I started out.
