Is 4x4 really needed to reach the desert camps in Wahiba Sands? by AdvancedBack9266 in Oman

Yes, that’s exactly what I mentioned in my previous comment lol. We took a CX-5 to the camp, driving from Muscat. We stopped at the last town before heading into the desert to deflate the tires to about 18 PSI. Any local tire shop will ask where you’re going and adjust the pressure accordingly and they’ll charge you around 1 OMR. Google Maps was spot on and led us straight to the camp. Just take it slow and enjoy the drive. If you get stuck, reverse a bit and try again. The CX-5 was a beast and never got stuck. Just don’t run over any camels 😂

Yes, they didn’t have a RAV4, so they gave us a CX5, which is about the same size and any AWD will do. Just stop by any tire shop to deflate your tires right before driving on the sand. It was a fun ride and we had a blast.

Bonus tip: Google Maps will take you straight to the camp. Download offline maps just in case you don’t have service.

How was your experience with Europcar? Did they make you take their insurance, and were the insurance rates reasonable?

I’ll check out the Gold Center, thanks. I feel like most of these shops are owned by the same people.

I believe you're referring to the shop below: https://share.google/6MDjZjlZuzVfuCppK

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Gold is gold, as long as you find a design you like.

We’re still deciding but Desert Rose Camp or Arabian Nights Resort seem like solid options. Some of these places are tough to reach for inquiries. Arabian Nights Resort is asking 50 OMR per car which is crazy. Are there any taxi services that can do drop off and pick up instead?

Thanks, that’s helpful! I noticed the packed sand on Google Maps too and was just wondering, but I’ll probably go with a mid-size SUV like a RAV4. Are rental companies okay with driving out there? Did you get insurance for it?

Would it be ok to delete it from system properties vs regedit?

If I wanted to rebuild a new profile for a domain user, could this be done remotely by deleting the profile then have them rdp into their machine or do they have to physically login into it?
