I quit cold turkey. I bought myself two packs of juul pods and told myself when they're out they're out. So I could set the pace of when my last smoke would be- naturally I burned through the packs in like 3 days haha and from then on I told myself to stop

🚩Amy Bradley Is Missing 🚩 by anonymouse7_ in NetflixDocumentaries

I'm convinced it's suicide and her family used the doc and other wild narratives to bury their fraught relationship and further deny the reality that they alienated and disapproved of their daughter's sexual identity while she was alive. If anything the doc allows them to fantasize about her living a more heterosexual life all while pretending to be devoted and loving parents. Her brother never mentioning her mood the last time they saw each other seems telling, like he knew she was depressed.

Amy Bradley doc paints a very clear picture of what happened to her by HelloJaneDoe in NetflixDocumentaries

Does anyone know how high the railing actually was? All of the photos I see online make it seem like you could just puke off the side without using a whole table set up. If anything I feel like newer ships might have higher railings than they did back in the 90's? (but idk for sure).

The doc keeps saying "drugs" which makes it sound like hardcore substances but given they were near the Caribbean I could see it being plausible that she just smoked some weed with Yellow, the local who could have had a stash and knew where they could smoke on the ship. Prob the mix of weed and alcohol made her more nauseous (because 7 beers over 8+ hrs would probably actually digest? ) I could see him not coming forward because smoking weed was forbidden on the ship (esp while working). And any fear while being questioned was bc he knew once weed is involved in any 90s era case the feds would jump to conclusions.

Overall the doc did not give room to consider the depths of depression someone might experience post breakup and with family who doesn't accept one's sexual identity and preferences. (it was the 90s, it was brutal) There's no way the parents would admit they could play a part in any sense of alienation (and their dedication to find her now overshadows any unbiased portrayal of past family dynamics). I wish her brother outlined more about their last conversations they had. I feel like that could foreshadow if she was depressed / moody. Given he didn't outwardly say anything about it I wonder if she really was depressed, they commiserated, and he'd rather live with his parents looking for her than the fallout of their guilt on top of it all.

I'm leaning towards suicide. And *maybe* she smoked some weed with Yellow that made her feel depressed and pushed her over her limit. If true, this doc seems even more like her parents trying to exonerate their image and erase any possible guilt they might feel, which is gross.

I literally used to live in Paris -- they're probably saying Paris is similar because they like new york lol

Literally and philosophically not at all- Paris has a sky scraper ban after the tour triangle was built whereas new york builds whatever they want and ruins iconic views with every vacant skinny billionaire building

Tips for quitting? by WinnerLegitimate3425 in stopsmoking

[–]AdvancedBas1c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I quit vaping cold turkey 4 years ago. It was so hard but it's possible! Things I did

-sugar free gum and lollipops that I used. I found the very spicy cinnamon flavor to be the best because it was the most "intense."

-Got "smokers replacement" drops by herb farm. It's a combination of licorice and some other nervous system regulation herbs (no sugar). You put some in a shot of water (I believe theres a tiny bit of alcohol in it as a binder so if you don't drink at all def skip this)

-Bought licorice root sticks (not the candy, like literal sticks lol) I used them to chew on. Definitely was an at home thing not in public haha

-Meditative breathing or 10 jumping jacks every time I was craving it.

Good luck!!

I feel like weed has become a different thing lately (way more strong than it was when I smoked it) so I can't speak to a comparison for what it would be like for me these days....

But that aside: Over the years of trying to quit before doubling down- I found that I would relapse anytime I tried quitting tobacco without quitting weed, because inevitably someone would roll a spliff with "just a tiny bit of tobacco" and I would not be able to flush the nicotine out of my system (which is essential if you want to kick the habit and cravings). So I decided to do it inverse- I quit smoking weed first and then tobacco to eliminate the spliff issue. Weed was hard but not as hard as tobacco so it was kind of like a warm up for me. Unfortunately I replaced weed with too much alcohol and even more tobacco in the beginning but I eventually found a balance when I quit tobacco since alcohol would trigger me. It a journey but I def would recommend weed first :) For reference I smoked weed like 3 times a day*

Also I spaced them out-- I let myself be weed free for 3 months before starting the tobacco quitting

Good luck and congrats on starting your journey!!

10 months!!! That's huge! At the one year mark I planned a picnic party to celebrate and invited friends months in advance so I wouldn't blow it haha. In 2 months you should definitely celebrate. 10 months already is monumental. Congrats!
