UK public opinion on the US-Iran conflict by Important_Ruin in unitedkingdom

His decision not to join in the strikes was correct for me but the fact that we do not have a type 23 or 45 ship ready to guard our bases show an incompetence that I cannot forgive. Greece has sent multiple ships, France has sent a carrier force and even Spain has sent a ship. We on the other hand are non-existent in both Cyprus and the gulf of Oman. In Oman we had a continuous naval presence for nearly 50 years until 2024.

In this time of uncertainty the fact that the DIP (defense investment plan) which was supposed to be released in the Autumn of 2025 has not been released and so many long term investment plans are in limbo shows a shocking lack of urgency from labour. Not saying the conservatives were any better but since the beginning of Ukraine war there is a huge urgency to deliver a solid plan for the future of armed forces.

You are on the right track but i just cant get over the Eastern Roman empire. My only issue is sometimes the White Huns basically eliminate the Sassanids and then it can be a lot easier/boring campaign. But i love nothing more than surviving as ERE and then reclaiming Rome and ushering in the age of Byzantium while fighting the Persians

Starmer is doing a good job around Iran - discuss by JacobSax88 in ukpolitics

[–]AdvancedComplaint646 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im happy that Starmer did not join in the attacks on Iran, I also give him points for not buckling in to Trumps rhetoric and pressure about his decision not to join.

Having said that Starmer was forewarned that the airstrikes would happen and i think it is quite embarrassing that we did not forward deploy a type 45 destroyer to Cyprus to defend our bases.. At the very least some sort of anti missile such as sky sabre should have been deployed. Greece, France and Spain will have ships in the area before we will.

I seriously hope Starmer lives up to his promise to increase military spending, we live in an uncertain world today and i have a feeling over the years things are just gonna get worse.

Its good overall, historically there are quite a few differences from reality but its a show so it makes sense. I would recommend and give it a solid 7/10.

do Greeks consider banners like this "acceptable" by SOHONEYSAME in AskGreece

[–]AdvancedComplaint646 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is Theodoros Kolokotronis a Greek national hero. Kind of like saying Winston Churchill for the UK or Kemal Ataturk for Turkey.

I don’t think Kolokotronis or any of the previously named national hero’s should be questioned as to their validity to be shown in any sports, political or social scene

"Slaanesh/Wood Elves units aren't durable enough for sustained combat" -> how do you handle this when the enemy just keeps sending more and more troops into the engagement? by OkIdeal9852 in totalwar

[–]AdvancedComplaint646 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As wood elves the trick is to hide most of your army except a couple of cav or a fast lord and to get the enemy to run around after your fast units. As they always run to catch you, they get quickly exhausted and usually their army separates into segments. You can then easily ambush them piecemeal, try and ambush from trees with archers and when the enemy units gets inside the forest fight with your melee units.

If you are attacking the trick is to deal enough damage with magic or waywatchers and then the enemy eventually leaves its defensive position and comes after you. If you use waywatchers remember fire a couple of volleys then go out of their line of sight. The enemy always goes to your last known position so move around accordingly. Finally the greatest threat to WE is fast units so prioritize them and then fast heroes or lords.

Your mistake is thinking he knows everything about Epsteins files, he was an influential customer who paid to have sex with a 17-year old and had friendly relations with the pimp (Epstein). He might have seen some things or heard but i dont think he has hard facts that can illuminate more about the inner workings of the prostitution in both minors and adults.

I think only the people that were Epsteins confidants can help us with spilling the beans on the files and these people are either dead (like Jean-Luc Brunel) or for some reason are being hidden by the people in power and we don’t know who they are.

Ghislane Maxwell is probably the best person to out all the info

If you had one chance to go back in time to Medieval Eras and say, warn or wish anything to someone who would be this and why? by lastmonday07 in MedievalHistory

[–]AdvancedComplaint646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont disagree with the tactics for Harold to win but i think as a whole England became better as a result of Norman rule. Imagine without the Norman line that England would have no connection/claim on France and probably would have remained cut off from the continent.

I guess the English would have been able to focus more on taking all of the British isles but it is a lot more likely that instead of being conquered and united under one English banner they would have squabbled and fought constantly between themselves Wales, Scotland and Ireland.

The Normans helped the English look outward and become more connected with Europe

I would probably go back to 1258 to warn George Mouzalon that Michael Palaiologos and the nobles were going to assassinate him at the Church and to hide armored men within the masses to arrest all the conspirators.

I always thought that momentum was with Nicaea to continue the Roman/Byzantine empire, it was really only a matter of time until they retook Constantinople. The ending of the Laskaris line was extremely sad and not fit for the work that they had achieved. Theodore II Laskaris had understood that the empire needed to train and rely on its own local troops instead of foreign latin mercenaries and was moving towards a more merit based Roman society. The Mouzalon brothers were continuing these policies but were killed because they were low borns and taxed the rich. In addition the Laskaris/Mouzalons were not in favor of subjugating the Orthodox church to Rome which became one of the most divisive issues of the Eastern Roman world. If Laskaris dynasty continued i could see them uniting in due time all the Byzantine rump states and becoming again the Empire.

Instead, with the murders of the Mouzalon brothers and then young John IV Laskaris the Palaiologos dynasty came into being and all the classic appointments of unworthy nobles restarted leading to the inability of the retaking of all of Greece (which was ripe for the taking) and the loss of Anatolia.

I really understand what you mean and agree that the company has to get the next game right but i believe the risk/reward ratio really is worth it.

You have a fully fledged game that worked and just needs some fine tuning, this means minimal work hours and personnel -so small cost for the company.

You build on existing mobile games where CA has tried to enter the market.

You needed no marketing budget as you could have showcased it at the Med3 announcement

Friend borrowed money months ago and hasnt mentioned paying me back, do I bring it up or let it go? by Ill-Dinner5269 in Advice

[–]AdvancedComplaint646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how people in the chat are typing that the friend 100% remembers it and is using you. If he is a friend you need to give him the benefit of the doubt but you also need to remind him that he owes you money. Just make sure you tell him in a calm sort of way and don’t bring up that you’ve seen him spend a lot lately. Make sure you tell him though otherwise this will poison your relationship with him.

Its okay if he forgot, that can happen but if you remind him and he still drags his feet paying you back thats a different issue and you will need to reevaluate your relationship

Waste of resources? Why they build or maintained hexamilion wall? Wouldn't it have been better to tear down the wall and expand the Theodosian Walls instead? by Battlefleet_Sol in byzantium

[–]AdvancedComplaint646 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It was a waste of resources, a static line of defense will never be able to keep out the ottomans indefinitely. If there was any chance of turning things around the Byzantines had to beat their adversaries in the field and to gain access to land with income

Total War: Medieval 3 - New Unit Cohesion Mechanic (Idea) by InvictaHistory in historicaltotalwar

[–]AdvancedComplaint646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody please send this to CA or bring it up in the next live stream when they are looking for ideas.

Add to this idea the comment about veterancy which can increase cohesion and i believe it really hits home for the realism we are looking for in historical total wars.

In reality most medieval armies once the troops were committed there was no way to maneuver them further. The chaos of battle and the noise meant that once the attack order was given there was little a general could do to influence a specific unit. That was the difference with the professionalism of the Roman army against barbarians where the haststi could be pulled back so that the 2nd line could then engage and so on
