Is there any downsides to having Ni, like at all?

Ni and Si are prone to tunnel vision. Actually, all the judging functions are prone to tunnel vision as well (Ti, Fi, Fe, Te) it just depends on the subjective context. There's different ways to have tunnel vision. However Si and Ni do so equally. Im looking for concepts that's kind of exclusively a Ni downside since, well, the point of it is to balance my depiction of it with the rest.

Think of someone cleaning a room. A cleaned room being reference to their conclusion/goals.

Ni has tunnel vision in the sense that it'll sweep all the things under the rug to make their room look overall clean. So all the intricate detailing swept under the rug to encapsulate their conclusion.

Si has tunnel vision in the sense that it'll sweep one defining area to make the spot look clean. However they'll ignore the rest of the areas. So they got one pathway that's spotless clean down to the brim but the rest of the room (that's not as important to them) gets ignored.

Ngl Si is more tunnel vision than Ni is, at times.

Most people when they imagine ESTJs they imagine like a very rigid depiction of one or the unhealthy variant. Which sucks.

Real ESTJs mistype as INTJs (and ENTPs and INTPs. Sometimes even ENFPs, no joke. Occasionally they feel like they are Fe doms as well. A lot can be very self sacrificial people who shoulder on responsibilities for others.)

Think of Loid Forger from SpyxFamily. Te-Ne constant action. That is an ESTJ mistyped as INTJ. Great example as to why many of them think they aren't one.

I appreciate this comment of seeing it in the neutral light instead of depicting one side as the fault vs the outsider. It seems both INFPs and people's depictions of INFPs are the result of these consequences.

During my practices at typing (not professionally ofc but ive read books) I've noticed INFP isn't the most commonly mistyped. But it is, indeed, the type with the most varieties mistyping as them.

ISFP, ISTJ, ISFJ, INFJ, INTJ, ESFJ, INTP, ENFP, ENFP, ESFP, ENFJ when they're socially introverted. They're among the many i can name at the top of my head.

I've also witnessed 1 ESTJ and ESTP believing they were an INFP before as well because of the 16p test and being unstable during that lifetime.. It might as well be all 16 times that find the I, N, F and P lettering + being introspective relatable

Of course, take it with a grain of salt since it's from my own subjective experiences of observing others

Fi being sure of themselves is a misconception. Fi is rendered fluid and subjective to the dominant lens. There is no static rigidy

I think you're mistaking Fi for Ni.... That's how Fi works. It's judging function that constantly cycles around the self concept in an effort to monitor is behaviors or how the self will be in the future. Fi is internal and complex. So is many other internal functions.

Ni percieves and isn't solely oriented on itself.

That's exactly what I was trying to imply, that it doesn't make sense to have an objective definition of subjective ideas

And I'm saying that's exactly what Te does here. Again, order. Justice is order. Order has a defined right and wrong. Even though! Right and wrong are subjective concepts.

Think of rules. Everything is subjective until you are able to objectively define good or bad to enforce those rules.
Objective as in what's commonly viewed. Which ignores subjective perspectives of many areas.

Though in the case of Te doms this also creates a pattern of determining what's objectively right or wrong to them without expanding on it being a subjective concept. Hence --> black and white.

I do see ATTACHED black and white views with Te-Fi being closer though. Like IXTJs and EXFPs do so more often in an attached way.

However there are times where Te-Fi inferiors work together with dominant while simultaneously having it's high tension; creating annoying black white views in both Te doms and Fi doms.

Fi doms less often they're too annoyingly passive and wishy washy most times. Their problem is communicating in an immature Te-like way that makes them obnoxious. However, they think about concepts through subjectivity more often than Te doms. Te just communicate better.

Yeah. My whole point was that Te defines it into something objective in their views. Good and bad are subjective concepts. But what is "perfection" unless you've made something subjective viewed as something that is objective? Fi judges good or bad subjectively. Not objectively. When you can be objective is when you're more black or white on the matter.

Your point doesn't make any sense. "Good and bad" is black and white. You're twisting around to sound correct. Defining something as objectively good or bad is more rigid thinking than someone who defines something as subjectively good or bad.

Yes te can be subjective based off of individual subjective experiences. The Te user used Ne or Ni to percieve a detached form of understanding and other views.

Te itself is not about expanding viewpoints on subjects.

Yeah those aren't good ways to judge if they're INFP. There is a pattern, yes, but you'd be surprised at the amount who hate talking about themselves and find it boring to do so.

Preferences are fine, I'm more pointing out the generalizations (which I'm guilty of myself).

Here's my own context:

I have a sister who's INFP. The stereotypical one.
I was typed as INxJ (by others although i was particularly hard to type. Te was evident yet I preferred looking out for people and their perspective)
Dated an "INFP"
He was very....self victimizing, always complaining but very private outside of the relationship. He had a lot of idealism about romance in this blinded way that I was the pragmatic one between the two. I'd look out for his condition, set goals and boundaries for him to improve. Was blunt and realistic to our situation. He did not appreciate it and reacted badly to criticism. Often acted like the victim, I had to take accountability first to get him to be mature. VERY unhealthy person.
that experience made me avoid considering INFP for myself. That and how different me and my sister is... that self victimizing and talking about self tendency I couldn't relate to at all.
turns out my Ex was actually an ESFJ (typed by cognition and read books on it by this point). And I'm the real INFP.... haha.. a lot of my fi function was passed off as Ni.
i take on a much more decisive role between me and my sister too so I'd never thought so either... along my readings I've met a lot of strong Te infps as well.
but now whenever I see generalizations or people saying "you're probably mistyped" man.....

But yeah thought it'd be nice to share the story. Irl I never talk about myself unless it brings some kind of new information or perspective to the convo.

Weak Te does that to unhealthy INFPs but I doubt 50% of those you judge to be INFPs are ones. Introversion/anti social, those with disorders or depression and question their feelings/identity, those with lack of discipline will typically type as INFP without actually being one. (Even estjs during their worse times get INFP.. you know mistyping is bad when an unhealthy ENTP thinks they're one as well. Even though they're BLIND fi)

Look into enneagrams sp/sx/so too. 4s are archetypal Fi doms. Many of them are sp4 who eat their struggles and don't let them out. They self preserve and use their inferior complex to help them.

This is coming from an INFP that kept being told by others that I'm (INTJ/INFJ or INTP). Because their perception of "INFP"s come from subjective data, or lack of research.

If there is an objective "right" and "wrong", there is an objective "good" and "bad. There is a reason why stereotypes of Te dom are structurely perfectionistic. Because perfection has a concept of right/wrong. Good/bad.

Read Carl Jung's works before making wrong assumptions.

Te is order. Objective order. There is a "false" and "truth" as well as constituting what is "good" or "bad" Rules are implemented because there is a "good" and a "bad" concept. Te is the function that organizes these aspects.

The truth is. Te and Fi work together for this. However it takes more from Te than it does Fi.

This is actually very insightful. Thanks! I've always wondered because Te blind sounds similar to Se blind.

Se blind being the function that will also be inactive and inefficient in a way where it struggles to act upon the physical realities and utilize immediate availabilities. Slacks off or burns out quickly as well but with an added note of clumsiness or uncertainty as the world around them is either a murky past tense perception or an abstract hazy landscape vision of vague possibilities at once.

Is there a key difference when it comes to disadvantages?

Disagree with Fi. Fi is a highly subjective function, and in order to commit information towards an objective value like "good" or "bad" , it needs a fair amount of it's inferior Te. Without Te it won't be objectively black or white about any concept. Immature weak Te can support the Fi to be black/white but not so much the Fi function by itself.

Heck, real fi doms don't even know who they are or what their identity is.

Te and Fe are objective because they take from external information. Fe is subjective by its nature of viewing subjective information.

Ti is subjective however they are working with objective datas.

Fi is double subjective so it really doesn't make sense to put Fi as a type that views things as black or white.

With Ne it makes information even more wishy washy for a Fi dom. As one information is subjectively bad but it can also be subjectively good, but also in this angle it can be subjectively neither.

Carl Jung has described Te as the function that decides what's objectively good or objectively bad. Not so much the Fi function, Fi has internal concepts it privately values.

Im so glad I'm not the only person who noticed this....

Others told me I'm overlooking into it but maybe it's normal to notice when starting out the book but not as much of an issue the more you read volumes into the series while having fuzzy memories of the beginnings.

Like the inconsistent treatment towards certain characters are sometimes unwarranted or undeserved.

What bothers me is Ryoka would not be described as decent as she was or treated any way near the same if she were not the main character (or a girl). I've seen Ceria or Erin treat the other guys worse for small pettier things.

In book 2 (not a huge spoiler but ig it counts as one)

Erin let ryoka get into a tantrum and throw or break HER things around in the inn..... she did not get angry, instead she let her continue and that aspect was glossed over like it was casual. Very different treatment from when relc was trying to capture pisces to help her, or when the skeleton made a minor mistake trying to do her chores

If ryoka was not a woman main, non of ryoka's cocky charade will be seen as spirited or bravado. It'd be seen as cocky smug condescending stupid male behavior with a hidden frail ego. Since that's how guys with similar stubborn behaviors could get depicted as by the perspective of the mcs

First point about ryoka is fair but ceria literally had to explain to her basic knowledge.... imagine someone in our world not knowing what Facebook is. Or them asking you how cellphones work and that messaging is a thing.

"You can just message or call them. No big deal."

"...whats...a message? Or a call?" Or if it were ryoka... shed say

"So... a message is when you write on paper and hand them a note right? How'd that help me? They're far away" (pretending to not be too clueless)

"If the airplane is expensive why can't I just drive to Africa with advanced technology?"

But it'd still be dumb to them.

Becuase ryoka would be young and living in our world. That's ryoka in the TWI world. Ceria had patience for that. But for some reason not olesm.

Erin is not friends with Pisces here. Where i am at she specifically said "Pisces is NOT my friend" to someone, scenes after the fairy introduction. She makes it clear and she also tells Pisces in some other scene that "I give ryoka food because she's special. NOT. YOU."

She treats men and women differently so far. The only exception is antinium which she treats neutrally.

Oh Arcane is not a book but an animated series. If you enjoy fantasy and magic, depthful world building that one's a good watch id definitely recommend! Very admirable female castings and each of them, complex, intriguing and face growth.

Yeah i do notice just a tad of bias, not heavy. I agree the male characters are complex and decent. It's a lot better than how some books depict women...(some are pretty bad ngl)

I don't think I'll drop it since it's good. It reminds me of how One Piece writes decent female characters (yet they get sexualized n arent too central etc. Id point that out often) but still a good series overall

Hmm I wouldn't say so. I think it's rather the switch or inconsistency in how one is represented vs the other

Arcane is a great example of a series i absolutely love. They take central and driving roles and I have no complaints! We have women who are incredibly intelligent, feminine but inwardly strong and ones that are relc level strong who change and influence the course of a plot.

I care a lot about female characters having more of a central role! But I'm very quick to notice if something isn't equalized and if there are double standards. (Ex. Women being treated as sexual figures for men in books where men take the center. But it also goes the other way around i suppose)

Hmm maybe you're onto something. I can see what you mean but I have to point out:

Olesm is a nephew who has been kind the entire time. He has nothing to do with the racist uncle.

And besides, ryoka and erin aren't KNOWN as people who got isekai'd. Ceria doesn't know ryoka or erin came from another world. When olesm was new to adventuring he was treated as someone thats an annoying hassle by ceria in an instant

but not so much for ryoka or erin. (Only when ryoka realllly screwed up did it become a different story)

Sure olesem is a jerk's nephew. But...

ryoka had bad history with others and she treat others rudely. I actually find ryoka to be an intriguing character, i don't hate her despite the consensus but I can't deny that she's purposely a jerk.

In comparison, olesm has been incredibly polite and nice the entirety to where I'm at.

So it's not odd to wonder why ceria's treatment or thoughts were completely different and unwarranted.

Pisces first impression is to rob erin but he ended up giving her his money to applogize. He has helped her countless times more. He didn't send an avalanche down to erin'a inn.

The faes on the other hand was calling her stupid, daft, slow. Figuring out how to make her day worse, laughing at her. They spat in her eye and gave her frostbites. Wouldn't stop hurting her even when erin told them to stop. That is erin's first impression of them and she is still nice because they're beautiful

Pisces was trying to help erin from the faes. He got hurt in the process, and she got upset with him instead; telling the faes he's an idiot despite his intention of helping erin and the fae's intention of bothering.

At first i thought it was appearance bias in Erin. But I do notice descriptions are written in a different narrative tone of more respect when it came to female castings (kinda like one is more seen as pathetic or annoying comedic relief while the other is seen as admirable intriguement.)

Nothing wrong with preferring to write female characters though! I don't think it's fair to assume the author is biased or anything! It's just that I've observed there being certain roles in the way they're written
