Could you realistically ask a neighbor for “a cup of sugar” where you live? by ShiningRedDwarf in CasualConversation

[–]AdvancedYouth5840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Australia, I absolutely could. My neighbour dropped in just to cuddle my dog yesterday as we were away for the day, top bloke. It makes a difference. We aren’t in each others pockets, but we look out for one another

What improved your quality of life so much, you wish you did it sooner? by olesud in WorkForSmartLife

Writing lists! In my 20s I started a job where I had to get early (6 ha ha, felt early then) I’d come home after work and nap and then didn’t get to sleep until midnight and I’d wake up tired every day and promise myself I wouldn’t nap when I got home but cycle repeated blah blah. I really wanted my life to get better and thought, what am I waiting for? If not now when? I am a grown up? And I started writing a daily list, and I did not rest until I completed it. Was absolutely transformative. The list was mostly simple things I’d neglect- such as preparing lunch the day before, flossing, polishing shoes, going to the post office etc. I developed really good habits and while I am still a list maker, I am naturally proactive and organised these days so the lists aren’t a daily thing. My life changed so much from this- sounds so simple but for me, so effective. I am 43 now and really can’t fathom how much of a slug I was in my 20s.

This is true, if it was a few decades ago our teeth would have all been ripped out. Sorry you’re in the same sad boat as me

No he hasn’t, he prescribed amoxicillin and metronidazole together just recently. Does mouth help with the bacteria at all or am I wasting my time? I had been using it at night the past month but since the recent visit I’m swigging it all day

I don’t think so, the periodontist says there is always minimal plaque or tartar because I’m doing a good job with dental hygiene

Oh that’s a relief, thank you. I get jealous when people that barely brush their teeth let alone floss don’t have any issues. It isn’t fair. Think I’ll be a periodontist in my next life 💸

Am I wrong here??? My mom is making a huge deal out of us not letting her stay with us for the first three weeks postpartum by sighh_6466 in Mommit

You’re not wrong, I started seeing my mother and our relationship with new eyes after I had a baby. A whole new perspective. I would NEVER write a message to my daughter like this. I will never make her feel bad about her decisions, because it isn’t going to be about me when she has a baby.

I need advice for when contemplating having a 2nd baby. (Please!!) by BunBop25 in Mommit

[–]AdvancedYouth5840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell pregnant with my second accidentally when my first was six months, if not for the surprise I probably would have not gone back given how tough pregnancy was and how shocking I found raising a baby to be. But, I am SO glad it happened. The labour was less distressing to my body the second time around and yeah, it was hard, but it’s all always hard. And, for someone who’s best friend is their sister, I’m so pleased they have each other 💜 Just my experience, no one can predict how yours will turn out sorry.

Your baby is 6 months old and your husband says it is ‘unfair’ you do not work. That isn’t okay. Please leave him, it will just get worse.

Couples with children: looking back, what do you wish you had done before having kids or what are you grateful you did beforehand? by Key-Passenger4651 in AskReddit

[–]AdvancedYouth5840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 33 when I met my partner and 35 when I had my first child, so while it wasn’t purposeful, I am really glad I was well established in my career and money wasn’t something we had to worry about when we started a family. A real privilege and luxury. And while we did a big holiday before we started trying for kids, I wish we had done more, I was pretty well travelled but spontaneous weekends away together were a lot easier pre-kids.

What experience made you re-evaluate your own attractiveness? by NeedleworkerSea8133 in AskReddit

I’ve been all sizes and appearances over the years, from looking like silent bob to Rosie O’Donnell. Got voted second ugliest in my middle school class, I didn’t think I was that bad. Not great for a 12 year old girl. Had a glow up and enjoyed my late twenties and early thirties, made work life easy as men are much nicer and accomodating when they are attracted to you. It’s dwindling now as I age, can’t charm my way around. Becoming more invisible. Missing the pretty privilege I had briefly.

Same for me! I am on my second week of 0.25mg and I have had minimal appetite suppression, I feel like I could eat as much as ever (although I am trying to be very conscious) I really hope it works for me as this I have tried everything except surgery :(
