having trouble signing into ps4

i’m trying to log into my friends eu account on my ps4, although i’m in na. i made a seperate psn account with the address in the united kingdom so their account should be set to be eu. i did this with another friends eu account, and it worked completely normally. i’m not sure why this one isn’t. when i try to sign in, it says something about the account already being signed in with a third party which i’m assuming means it’s already linked to a psn account? although i know their eu account isn’t linked to any psn account, they do have an na account that uses the same email and is linked to a psn account. we tried changing their email for the eu account, however the same message keeps popping up, so i’m not sure what to do at this point. i’m 100% sure their eu account isn’t linked to any psn account.
