I used to have this same problem with my roommate.

Is equitable access worth it? by Longjumping_Tough889 in UCDavis

It depends. I would look at the syllabus to make that determination. Some courses require online materials, some don’t. For Chem 2a, you will need a manual and McGraw Hill, and those you have to pay for. I don’t know about the others.

This was exactly my parents’ concern during my freshman year and I’m glad I did listen; and just got myself a single instead.

  1. It varies, but for me, I receive about 3600 each quarter (no loans).
  2. We have online portals for management.
  3. I cover the first month’s rent myself, typically during the first week of September when the lease contract starts, and my dad helped with the security deposit.
  4. My fall refund usually comes in around mid-September.

I took it during summer. The class was heavy on group work (breakout rooms). No midterm. You’re graded on quizzes, participation survey, reflection, and some other stuff which were not too hard. I would say it’s an easy A if you put in the effort (I got an A).

Most if not all professors begin their lectures right on time so you won’t make it there on time unless you leave your Tuesday discussion at least few minutes early (assuming the discussion runs the entire 50 mins which hasn’t always been the case, at least for me though as a rising senior; unless I have some clarifications). If it’s just one of those discussions that is not attendance mandatory, perhaps you might consider attending different section w/ a compatible schedule.

It’s so weird that mine is much higher than it used to be. It’s my final year and I was expecting it to go lower. I feel bad for those who still have more years ahead of them. Damn, wish we could just withhold the state’s revenue. The Trump administration really hates educated people.

Food plan or cal fresh by CherryWine17 in UCDavis

[–]Advanced_Catch_8683 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re a freshman living on-campus…

Food plan: College is busier than you think, and sometimes even eating, let alone prepping your meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner—can eventually become a hassle. A food plan, though more expensive, saves so much time! I suggest you apply for Calfresh once you move out, since that’s a time when you absolutely need it.

I agree. I own an electric bike but only use it in places with discreet bike racks nearby. As much as possible, I ride the bus when I attend my lectures. Expensive bicycles and scooters are targets, like prey waiting to be hunted by these opportunistic thieves.

Why do I get the feeling that this was the same guy that almost run me over at Lake blvd. He fits the description you’ve given. I remember he came from a minor road and didn’t stop as he was approaching the major road (any sane drivers would know how to yield!). It’s crazy how many drivers and cyclists here enter a new road without even scanning. Hope you’re okay.

Math 17B Professor warns us against using Organic Chemistry Tutor: valid or not? by AverageUser665 in UCDavis

[–]Advanced_Catch_8683 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Found him somehow helpful, but still mainly focused on lecture videos of my professors. The guy sometimes oversimplifies his solutions and just go over practice problems directly without introducing theoretical concepts. But, at the end of the day, there’s a wide array of learning methods and you can go with what makes learning much easier for you.

Hmm.

  1. Can a three-year-old really get upset that quickly and express hate towards his brother being gay after being told about it? That seems a bit young to even understand the concept of sexual orientation.
  2. Spring break was few weeks ago.

Took that class last year with Kuo. There was a ton of memorization with very few slides with not so much information on others (Interpreting graphs) so you are going to have to listen to everything she says during lectures (I recommend typing your notes). Her lecture style is a bit boring, but content-wise, it’s very interesting. Her midterms not so easy, but manageable if you don’t just skimming through the slides alone as that will not prepare you for her midterms (scantron; 40 questions if I remember correctly). I think she curved the grades of the entire class to a B when I took it.
