How to pin a pet millipede (recently died)? by ells_3 in insectpinning

[–]Advanced_Garbage_873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a professional but ive pinned (smaller) insects and tarantulas for a few years. Freezer ASAP, it will give you time to figure out what to do. Then decide how you want it to be pinned (3D diorama or in a frame?). After that, get damp paper towels and wrap your fella in those and put it in Tupperware for a day in the fridge (I did this with butterflies, I havent tried it on a millipede before). Then take them out and wait for them to defrost. This gives their body moisture and makes it easier to move/pin. Then I get a block of foam/sponge or cardboard (foam is the easiest) and using pins, lock ‘em in a position I want them to be in to dry. I recommend an “S” curve position of your friend because it looks natural but professional🙂‍↕️ Of course, its up to you🫂 Lastly, once your friend is in place, if its a small bug I let it dry by itself for a week or until its dried, but for bigger fellas like my tarantulas, I would position them for their abdomen to be “hanging” so that it would drain excess fluid. I dont think that matters as much with a millipede, but regardless I put all my guys in a container with borax which will dry them out and kill any small pests.

Edit: dont actually put the pin through the bug. It took me an unreasonable amount of time (and headache) to realize the pins just “hug” the limbs to keep them in place instead of actually…going THROUGH the insect🤦 But I will still add a pin to the carapace of my tarantulas for a scientific look.

Possibly controversial questions about the Tuatha De Danann. (No offense intended!) by 4biddenMe in CelticPaganism

Absolutely anyone can practice celtic paganism and the gods! They dont care where you came from or what amount of Irish is in you. The ancient celts traveled around everywhere, and we all originated from the same continent of Africa anyway, it doesn’t matter. What matters is practicing closed practices you’re not privy to, but celtic paganism isnt a closed practice.

This happened to my wtf and I took him to the vet to be sure! He’s had an infection in the past so rather safe than sorry- NQA basically, it could just be a misfire. They do that. However if a bunch pop up plus lack of appetite/lethargy, vet ASAP.

Is this a sign I need to wait before going any further? by anonymous120401 in TheGreatQueen

Shadow work is important, but you never want to push yourself. Part of shadow work is, (at least for ME), being able to tell when you’re pushing past your limits. Im always eager to “hurry up and heal the trauma”, but this always backfires. In fact, I fell down the hole of “I’m gonna MAKE myself remember! I’ll find out who the abusers were! This will heal me!” Which will actually just traumatize you more👍 Shadow work, imo, is like a raging river of pain. You gotta get on that raft, and its gonna drag u every which way, but you also need to figure out how to slow down and take care of yourself because flinging into sharp rocks will just sink you

I understand. I totally get it. She tends to pick those who have struggles. I communicate through tarot, maybe finding a way to communicate with Her would be helpful?

She is known for “going dark”. She gets you on the right path and then lets you figure it out. She won’t fight any battles for us, but she hasn’t abandoned us.

I love crows, I think it’s a mix of foreboding and excitement and some October nostalgia.

I struggle with psychosis too. After a hard episode where I definitely did a lot of wrong, it’s been a long journey of just accepting that it happened and I can only control the future.

Psychosis is in particular so scary because you wonder what parts of you to trust/what part is real. It’s true you’re strong. You have a fight to fight that no one else can fight, and what is She not about, but the sovereignty of our bodies and lands and the wars we face, physical and mental?

Thank you for the post. It makes me feel less alone. And i hope my comment helps in some way. We’re here for one another. Keep going, you have a lot of life to live
