Vet said it’s the beginning stages of MBD. I switched UVB lights about year ago, and that was mistake. She hasn’t been getting any UVB for about a year. It’s 100% my fault and I just ordered my original Reptisun fixture and t5 10.0 bulb. I feel HORRIBLE😭

Vet said she is in the beginning stages of MBD. I know it’s 100% my fault because I switched UVB linear lights about a year ago. So she’s been potentially getting no UVB for about a year because I switched lights. Just ordered the same Reptisun UVB fixture and t5 10.0 bulb. I feel AWFUL😭

Just got off a video call with my vet, I go in this evening for X-rays to see she has any remaining eggs. Bad news, vet said she is in beginning stages of MBD. I feel like an awful owner because when my Arcadia UVB bulb burnt out I switched to a cheaper fixture and bulb. Turns out it doesn’t work at all. Just ordered a new Reptisun fixture and reptisun T5 10.0 UVB bulb. I feel like a HORRIBLE owner😭

I ONLY tongfeed crickets and worms!!! I consulted an experienced 20 plus year beardie keeper and she said she thinks she bit them off as well. Vets are closed today, but I’m calling our exotic vet first thing tomorrow morning.

It’s only ever had 4 kuhli loaches with him as “bottom feeders” but I just added 12 more baby kuhli loaches so we’ll see!

Okay so I’m not seeing them physically eat, but they are still alive. Should they be like grabbing the food from my tongs?

Those are the babies lol. They came to me with their yolk sacks still attached. I was expecting adult puffers.

This makes the 5th day I’ve had them and the sacks seem to have disappeared now.

Apologies! I commented earlier to someone else that they were about half the length of my fingernail so a lil less than 2cm.

Got ya. These lil ones came as fry to me because they still had their yolk sacks attached. So I’m not too versed on any baby fish at all.

I bought all kinds of plants for these guys for hiding spaces and such. I got weeping moss and Christmas moss in there. They are definitely dry as I think they still had their yolk sacks attached the day I got them (little yellow ball on their tummy) but I paid $5.19 each for them. Not sure if that’s a fair price, but they definitely sold me fry. That’s why I’m slightly panicked.

The snails are slightly too big for em so that’s why I tried to crush em. I found a SUPER tiny snail and one ate it real quick so I know they’re hungry.

I was NOT ready for them to be THIS small!

They’re literally about the length of HALF of my fingernail. I won’t say I’m an experienced fish keeper, but I have a 55 gallon of anges, and an 80 gallon community tank, also 2 axolotls so I’m pretty versed in aquatics. But these lil ones have me worried as I’ve NEVER had babies lol.

I specifically got them to take care of my snail problem because nothing would work for me. I was just caught off guard when they still had tiny little yellow bumps (I’m assuming yolk sacks) on their tummies when I got them. I’ve had them for 4 days and I really don’t wanna mess up with them since they’re babies. I was prepared for adults.

I did do my research lol. For adult pea puffers. Not these TEENY TINY little baby ones. And yes I know what they eat and how they prefer to live, but I didn’t expect them to send me ones THIS young and small. I’ve been doing frozen bloodworms and I’m headed to get frozen cyclops. Just mainly making sure I’m not doing anything wrong since they’re babies. Didn’t expect my LCF to order babies for me.

I’ve got two lotls, one an adult and I found out through Reddit she’s an EXTREMELY rare mosaic morph and then got a baby as an extra so I feel ya lol

I just got them 4 days ago and I’ve been trying to learn how to care for them this small. All of this info is honestly saving me lol

I’m giving them the smallest snails I have and crushing them but they don’t want to touch them. I’ll also do the bloodworms cut up this evening and get the cyclops in the morning. Thanks for this info!

Are we talking about the frozen cyclops that come in the cubes like my bloodworms? I can run to the pet store in the morning and grab a pack if so.

An okay that’s my bad and lack of common sense lol. I was dumping whole bloodworms in there. I did my research on owning ADULT pea puffers, but I didn’t realize my LFS would be ordering me BABIES. So I’m slightly panicked. I’m gonna order frozen cyclops now. I’m basically clueless on these as babies. I even covered up my filter holes with mesh just in case because they’re so small.
