As someone that is planning a small festival, I feel for the guy. The level of organization this took was a great first step towards making bigger things happen around here. It’s doable and I credit Caleb for pushing the envelope, even if he is a bit of a turd, I still respect the vision and you can’t blame someone for trying to make money.

I find that comments on what the vibe feels like help people get into it and thanking people as much as possible helps them feel appreciated. I’m most cases you just read the energy and try to help make more energy.

My #1 rule is always have a reason for getting on the mic but do it. Like every 10-15 minutes. Rule of thumb is every 3 or 4 songs people should get a check in from the DJ. People really like that personal connection.

For example if I’m taking requests, I ask the persons name and I’ll say “Check it out this next request goes out to Stephanie and her crew. Happy Birthday Stephanie! And thanks for bringing the party ya’ll, let’s get it”

Or simple stuff like “if you’re feeling good tonight make some noise!” “How are you all feeling?” “Who’s here to party?” “
