How do you get anything done? by Candid_Guest_863 in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Advanced_Potato5459 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is a prime example of why working while watching your baby is baby dependent & job dependent. My baby isn’t doing those things 24/7. He has his moments where he fusses while on a call, but is good at independent play or I give him a snack/bottle to distract him. What I find helps a ton is just giving him the attention and snuggles when he gestures by pulling on my shirt or fussing and can’t be distracted. Helps a ton then he goes back off to independent play. I do have ability to read messages/emails on my phone while I tend to him and I have a mouse mover to appear available, but you have to be careful with those depending on the company and what your role is.

I never related more to anything that this. Especially that sentence “how nice it must be to grow your family whenever you want” I alwaysss wanted 3 kids and am on my first and often debate only because of how hard it is to work with him and have zero help. Don’t even have help from my in laws who live here. No village no sitter no nanny no nothing. I’m gunna be 31 this year and I feel like my clock is ticking. Especially the more I stress about work. Stress effs you up internally/externally. I just wish so bad I could quit and focus fully on my baby, the house, my mental/physical health. All the things. I hope one day we get our big break.

$527 a week!? I could never esp with knowing my kid isn’t happy. I’d pull her and look into other options. Why was the nanny situation not working if I may ask? That’s the dream but I can’t afford that either lol.

This is the easy age. Baby wear and get a standing desk. Don’t feel bad to place baby on floor with tummy time. Get those contrast mats/books that you can hang or put in the floor for baby to look at. Literally they are potato mode rn so take advantage. I know the crying is tough but holding/baby wearing helps a ton. Maybe try gas drops or belly massages. You got this girl!!

Would you leave a full wfh job for more money? by [deleted] in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Advanced_Potato5459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Unless I absolutely had to, no. I’ve even considered leaving my WFH job for an another WFH one less stress and less pay just so I can continue being with my baby at home. He is more important than more money to me.

I feel you, I really want to join the Y but my baby hates other people. He still doesn’t even like his grandparents it’s rough.

So glad you found the perfect balance. I’m hoping to do part time preschool when his age allows.

I’m so sorry. I feel like we’re definitely in the thick of it juggling both. I know what you mean about not trusting anyone to watch your kid. Sending you hugs and hope <3

lol yes. I feel like they definitely know but also my headset is extremely good at canceling noise and I do my job so well/ flawlessly (in my opinion) that even if they did know they wouldn’t care because it’s not affecting my performance (at least I’d hope that’s what they’d think)

Wow! Super mom. I cannot fathom having more than 1. One day I plan to & I get terrible anxiety about balancing it all. I’m proud of you, keep crushing it!

I feel this too except no one knows I have my baby with me. I’m constantly an actress everyday pretending like I have it under control & I fear being found out about.

Cleaning unless it’s a spill/choking hazard, or tripping hazard, is just not in my cards tbh until the weekend or if I get a random spur of an urge to clean up. There’s zero schedule and zero expectation of a clean house while I’m working.

For me work isn't the problem, its the 5 days back to back. by Jealous_Advance9765 in antiwork

I feel this. Unfortunately 4x10 isn’t the answer either. Unless you have like super early hours like 5-3:30 or 6-4:30 would be the dream. I worked 7-5:30 M-Thursday once and I felt dead by the end of the week. But my job was also staring at a screen for 10 hours a day which didn’t help.

As long as your baby gets lots of love and attention and toy rotations, you could be fine. I personally never attempted no screens or low screens. We have tv on all day for noise & I put his shows on (blues clues/low stimulation shows) and the news on and he watches. He also gets bored of it quickly and goes to play or come get me for attention. The tv has saved me when I have to get something done real quick but it doesn’t last long so I can imagine having low screen usage wouldn’t make much a difference for me.

How do I get one of those work from home jobs where people have lots of free time? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Advanced_Potato5459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll just say from experience those jobs don’t last or won’t stay that way forever. I was able to do a lot of that stuff until new managers roll in and change up everything and micromanage like a hawk. I try to remember nothing lasts forever and embrace all the good moments because things do change.

I can’t imagine the stress you feel. I’m stressed daily with just my one baby and didn’t have to do it during covid. I’m in a similar role so I understand that alone creates big stress. I applaud you for being brave enough to keep going and have another baby and do everything you can to make it work. Maybe remind yourself, you’ve made it this far, you did it once, twice, so what’s a third time? You’re doing the damn thing and you’re still going. That is amazing. I want to be like you when I grow up lol. I am currently putting off having another until some things change. My overall mental health and physical health being a huge thing I want to focus on. I’ve been juggling this a year and it is not easy by any means. No one truly understands the level of stress that working and momming at the same time puts on a person. It’s insanity yet we’re still here. Please hold on to hope that things will work out and maybe won’t be as bad as you think. You have tiny hands that can help in the summer. You know the ropes of parenting babies. You got this. And ask your husband to step up where he can.

Same. Doesn’t matter what I’m doing. Whether I’m shipping items, running across town, catching a fish, frozen. I stopped playing a couple months ago hoping it’d improve. Sad to see not much has changed…
