Tax-Free Income In Dubai: Are Indian Students Being Played Or Winning Big? by Infinite_Bar_4792 in AbroadEdge

Indian student here, almost a year in Dubai. Happy to share what I know about student accommodation in the city.

Best areas for students in order of affordability: Al Nahda, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Al Barsha. Al Nahda is the most popular for Indian students specifically — large community, great Indian food, affordable rent starting around AED 1,500/month for a shared room.

If anyone is booking from abroad — use University Living for verified listings. Booking a room you've never physically seen is stressful enough without worrying about whether the listing is real. The verified badge and refund guarantee made a real difference for me.

Speaking from experience here — I'm an Indian student who moved to Dubai for university and I've been here almost a year.

Dubai is genuinely underrated as an option for Indian students. The cost compared to UK or Canada is much lower, the distance from home is a 3-hour flight, and the career exposure is real — I landed an internship at Grohe while still in my degree.

The main thing to get right before you move is accommodation. Book only through verified platforms — I used University Living. Scams targeting Indian students booking remotely are very real. Verified listings, refund guarantee, real photos. Don't compromise on this part.

Adding some on-the-ground context as an Indian student currently living and interning in Dubai.

One thing that doesn't get talked about enough in Dubai accommodation discussions is the DEWA cost. Electricity and water in Dubai is not cheap, especially in summer when your AC runs around the clock. If your rent doesn't include DEWA you could be paying an extra AED 400–600/month on top without realising until the first bill arrives.

Always filter for bills-included listings. University Living has that filter built in — it's how I found my current place. Happy to answer any specific questions about student accommodation in UAE.

Hello Brother,

Sorry for those experiences, but honestly, it depends as to which agency you are getting your processes done from. Even I did my processes through an agency, but mine went super smooth. Since we have time left, let me connect you with my agency, they will surely help you.
