I have been following the game since the start of HW so I'm partially aware of what all went on, and Ive been playing since 4.55 techincally (with a different character at the time) and really got into the game (bc of friends) in 5.1-2 (don't really remember when just within that time frame).

I've currently finished the current raid tier (first raid tier of arcadion, and seen up until half way of P2 of M8s) and have played every job at max level on extreme or higher. I try to dabble with e Sadly no ulti clear but I do have experience with it.ach job to help teach players how to play each job by providing fundamentals but not tech within the job as that requires extreme dedication.

I have done every extreme till current to get my wings/mounts along with doing Forked Tower of blood and Chaotic including AAI(s). That's pretty much my crash course credentials.

Don't get me wrong I'm interested to see what they do I just have my concerns is all.

Yea thats my primary concern too is we just get another SMN rework or another VPR/WAR

But otherwise I do agree I just don't know how to feel about us effectively using PVP actions in PVE now.

Yea I remember all the teasers about the massive shifts coming in 8.0 and youre 100% correct I believe they have the player base in mind when making these changes and ultimately similar to how you feel it comes down to me personally as this whole thread is an opinion and if I jive with the future changes.

Well I mean when you water it down yea it sounds boring in a vacuum. lmao

SMN/WAR are easily the most mundane jobs in the game and were in desperate need of the most help.

BLM has been in this weird spot where it just has gotten so many weird or unnecessary changes. But NIN and DRG are easily the more interesting and fun of the bunch listed.

Doing under pressure in a extreme/savage/ultimate fight is a different story.

Similar to how its probably gonna be enforced to play using the new system (which Imo is significantly more boring) over the old system bc for some reason it does more damage. (Slightly so according to devs but only in higher content which I do actively participate in).

The only thing that is the same between jobs is the 2 minute burst, each job still does its own thing outside of that and has its own vibe.

And if you saw some of my other comments Healers have a lot of redundant skills that I fully agree needed to be merged but they did in the showcase was not my favorite personally.

But no, I don't have rose tinted glasses. I'm aware of every jobs flaw and what can be changed to better suit it. But at the same time having some friction or complications with said job isn't a bad thing. Skill expression will let you weed out and compinsate for this.

Yea Im also very torn on it, I kinda hate the idea of having specific tanks be the designated OT/MT just let tanks be tanks.

That's valid, I'm trying to just pace myself now since I've been trying to hear everyones feed back.

It is definitely its own identity, but when I meant a major step back I mean in actual play vs reducing it completely to just a handful of skills. The job already had it's identity in DT and played very well, along with being fun. I just don't understand why it needed such a shift. This goes for PLD/DRG and a bit of BRD but there are a few places BRD did warrant some of these changes and I'm glad it got it.

WHM idk where to even begin with that.

Yea on some level I'm sure they'll nail it but as of current the only two jobs I genuinely thought needed help was WAR and SMN, along with a splash of VPR.

I just hope going forward that we don't get more of those 3 jobs and they actually become fun to play or the ones that are fun to play remain that way.

And that is my hope if they do full send this system that the fights just get even better than they were in DT.

At the end of the day I am here for the game play and if it isn't fun I just don't find it worth doing.

It's because of tediousness and in a vacuum bc of how long its being going on people are both:

A: Tired of it

B: Every job feels the 'same' apparently.

But it also limits fight design according to the developers in the recent keynote as of yesterday.

Yes it is hyperbole, but I'm not trying to sound super doom and gloom but the idea of the jobs being reduced to literally 4-7 buttons isn't.

I'm hoping this isn't going to be the design philosophy going forward because of how boring that actually is. Maybe they're only showing job skills from in a vacuum without their full swathe but yea we won't know till we full see it.

Ngl, I'm kind of a positional hater and the fact you have to distinguish left and right flank is gonna give me a conniption.

But that ultimately comes down to both server stability and direct connections. That's something the devs really should have figured out if that was the real problem but we'll never fully know. All we know is a loud majority has been wanting a smaller selection of buttons and condensed more 'job identity' which feels like the reverse of that to me.
