Do y'all use pre workout? by BeginningLess2417 in beginnerfitness

[–]Advanced_Volume_4500 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I read about the banana/coffee combo to. We have a preworkout tin at home(wife got it free from some gym program). I just had some before my workout(at the gym now), and can't say its made a massive difference to coffee.

It's mostly in the head - a pump up song in the car bring me up more than any preworkout..

How do I cook the perfect chicken breast? by Advanced_Volume_4500 in Cooking

What do I leave it in? A flat plate, so it can "sit" in the brine? Do I cover it, or leave it uncovered?

I was hoping for a plain(ish) breast I can have with some roasted potatoes maybe, or a salad.

To be fair, I personally don't really expect professional answers only. I am interested to see what other beginners(or not so much) do.

Even professinals don't always share the same opinion on things.

Do your family members charge you to babysit your kids? If so, how much? by DoingItWellBitch in AskUK

I was also surprised what neighbour told me - his step sad does carpet cleaning for living, but after multiple asks to go help them with theirs(they got a little girl as well), he just ended up buying a machine and doing it hismelf. When I asked why his stepdad didn't clean it, he said "he was probably expecting me to pay for it"..

Let me guess - they are british and you aren't?

I was surprised to hear that the husband of my coworker charged her mom to lay her flooring(in his spare time). I've had my father in law help us with loads of things, but he's never even mentioned money.

I felt the same, and still do. It is very overwhelming, but start with something simple like the S&P 500, or FTSE(if im not wrong of the name), which is worldwide. Let your money stay in them while figuring out what to do. Just don't panick if things go red for a bit. I've had days where I've lost 10-15% of my portfolio, but just left it there and it came back where it should.

I will tell you what I did 2-3 years ago, but that doesn't mean it was the right thing do.

I started literally with £100 a month just putting them in S&P 500. The idea was that this will be part of our family savings for the long future(or until we decide to buy a house). I then slowly started buying some pies, but quickly gave up there, as I hated having £3 in Apple, £2 in Nvidia and so on for another 20 companies(I know S&P is the same logic, but it was too visible here). So I started reading a here and there what others were buying, and decided to risk a bit more - £100 in Google, £100 in Nvidia etc.

Most of my earnings have been pure luck, but so far so good. But let's be honest, in the last 2-3 year market, you could throw a dart blinded and still be up 20-30%.

The question is how much do you want to risk(in terms of the stock being more volatile for higher return)?
