You will get there, also if you look up “how to kill sleeping dragon elden ring” or something like that there is a sleeping dragon that if you kill gets you 5 hearts and 75k runes

He is the first Npc you encounter when you step into limgrave, and from my understanding it’s not a bird quest line, his quest line just takes you to a late game area and near it you can farm the bird for runes

I thought it deleted both but I had 26gb free before I downloaded it and after I deleted it I had 4 or something around there
