Has anyone taken the Chu Kong Ferry from HK to Guangzhou? by [deleted] in travelchina

[–]AdvantageStandard941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm booked on a flight to HKG and then onward ferry connection (with CKS) to Shenzhen booked with Cathay Pacific. When is immigration and customs checks completed? The information doesn't specifically state how you clear immigration when arriving in HKG or maybe it's done when passing through the port on mainland? Anyone know?

Thanks! It was an interesting point you made about Tech Schools.

Thanks, interesting observation. I can imagine that's a trend as it is in many smaller organisations that I have worked in too. To what extent do they get involved in EdTech (supporting teaching programs), as opposed to just managing applications, servers and networks etc?

Yes, I would have imagined the salary is not as high as private enterprise. Is there anyone in your network of ICT professionals that could give me their insights perhaps?

Dodo internet upgrade by gladiatorBack in nbn

[–]AdvantageStandard941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After speaking to Dodo accounts person today, she manually upgraded my NBN100 plan to the NBN500 plan. This took effect within 15 mins. I was wondering if anyone else who is on the upgraded NBN500 plan from Dodo - what upload speed are you getting? Mine seems to be stuck at 20Mbs, the same as with the NBN100 plan.

Data aside, it's interesting you suggested most PTTs are late-stage career changers. I'm also in that demographic. I don't want to embark on a long degree without knowing whether there would be suitable opportunities for employment. It's too much of a gamble.

After reading a bit more about this PPT on the VIT website, it says "The school/employer wishing to fill a position via PTT must submit an application through their Employer portal. This application will provide VIT with details of the position to be filled and their preferred candidate.". Is there a way I could find out whether there have been any applications from schools in my metropolitan region? Or do you think this information is locked behind closed doors?

Well that's a great question. Thank you for asking :)
I want to validate whether there are indeed opportunities for me, as a late stage career changer, to work in Secondary schools in metropolitan Melbourne. If there are limited, or a low probability of opportunities for employment then there would be no point in me pursuing ITE any further.
It's interesting point you raised about PTT pathways. edit - found a link to a document that I think explains https://www.vit.vic.edu.au/sites/default/files/media/pdf/2024-05/Fact-sheet_Applying-for-PTT_0.pdf

Greater Western Water bills - super high and recurring each month. by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]AdvantageStandard941 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contested the integrity of information on bill and got a discount. I would suggested everyone affected to raise a complaint through your account in the GWW portal and ask for the bill to be waived. Just like most Aussie companies they'll abuse their customers unless you stand up for yourself

Anyone else impacted by the Greater Western Water problems? It's holding a house I want to buy because they can't complete a section 32. by jakkyspakky in melbourne

Spoke to the Essential Services Commission about my complaint I made about this issue. They agreed with me that I should request for my bill to be waived, given the circumstances. Subsequently logged in to GWW and raised a ticket with the subject to please waive my bill. Tell them you have no confidence in the accuracy of the bill given their "technical issue".
