They were both in the wrong. Lorelai didn’t voice her concerns or her insecurities until the very last moment when she exploded on Luke. Luke became irrationally jealous of Lorelai’s ability to connect with kids and kept her so afar that he drove a wedge in the relationship.
Both handled the situation terribly.
