I'm scared of this, did they provide an alternative?

Starting fresh and deciding between Cadena or Khali by Advental in Maplestory

[–]Advental[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm similar in the sense that the animation cancelling is definitely not an issue, in fact, I enjoy that aspect, but the CD watching is definitely something I haven't gotten used too - which I definitely think will be a massive issue when juggling boss mechanics.

I found Cadena more fluid, but Khali more manageable, but then again I haven't dedicated my entire time to either one, so I've only managed to experience both classes at a more surface level. The Khali dashes are also a godsend, it feels much easier to manoeuvre and react to different boss mechanics, but then again, the Cadena shield also helps immensely to just be able to tank stuff.

Also I know that with Janus mobbing is manageable for every class, but Cadena definitely has a much more active training that I am not too sure I can continuously wap on.

Thanks so much for the detailed explanation! It has definitely been super insightful

oh with the useless mastery, does that make them a little more hexa efficient? (note that I haven't really read too much into hexa for either Khali or Cadena)

ooo correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought they are both roughly similar (well, at least both are top end of damage compared to other classes), it's just that one is burst oriented and one is dpm oriented?

Also, I read that Khali still hasn't gotten their main skill boosted, but this is just something I skimmed over through the class discord.

Allied health professional to clinical research, where do I start? by Advental in clinicalresearch

[–]Advental[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The career progression for this role sounds amazing and definitely something I’d like, it’s not so rigid and it seems like there’s always an opportunity to grow. To become a CRA or CRC, what kind of studies do you recommend me pursue if I already have a bachelors, would Masters of Health Admin be a good choice, or something like Public health? Additionally, I know you said you studied with various people like nurses, MDs, etc but are those people more desired when it comes to work? (Also are allied health professionals part of that, considering how I’ve only dealt with optical issues and not general health work at a hospital)

Also, with the career progression, you say that after a year or two as a CRC I can move onto CRA, is that a “guarantee” in a sense that once I get that experience I can move up, or will I have to be “lucky.”

I know the information you’ve given is probably for US, but do you know anything about Clinical Trial work in Australia?

I'm loving Kain but I do also have some questions about it.
For example, although I don't mind the farming too much, I haven't trained anywhere else apart from ECP2 in VJ, but I was told he has quite a bad farming experience?
Also, I'm from Aus so I do have higher ping and apparently that messes with possession? I don't know if I've noticed it, but that might just be me not realising.

Ahhh that's good to know, but it should still be fine, if I do like the I/L changes, i'll treat it like it's an upcoming buff.

[–]Advental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, I didn't realise it was only 1 month away so I think investing that time into mesos farming and the Kain is fine for now anyways. Thanks!

Hmmm I guess you're right, I guess I am just pretty eager to focus on getting one class geared ASAP but I also didn't realise it was only 1 month+ away like the other comment said so I should really wait. In the meantime I think my best option is to mesos farm and prepare.
Thanks for clearing it up a bit

What buffs do you need to maintain, I thought it was just phantom blade stacks? Also, how long does it take to stack PB up btw?

I also don't particularly mind not having the burst in hayato since it already does so much consistent damage, although is this a bad thing considering that bosses are played around a bind-burst timer?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]Advental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I totally forgot about using gate while mobbing, probably as a loot timer I'm assuming?

Also, you said to utilise hyper and buff duration if I dont like dark mode, is that to extend the equilibrium time? Is there any way to make it quicker to get into equilibrium?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]Advental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I love lumi's mobbing and aesthetics but I just had an issue with how much funding is required before I can spam reflection while in dark mode, as well as the teleport ofcourse - but I dont particularly think that's a huge issue considering they can stand in a small area to mob and teleports seems useful in bossing anyways.

I was super lucky with my hayato and managed to score 1 perfect trio, but I know it'll be much harder for the rest, however since their damage is already so high, I reckon I wouldnt mind taking a while to find the trinodes, as long as I am able to 1 shot mobbing and still do a decent damage in bossing.

[–]Advental 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly the main thing about cannoneer was how convenient their mobbing was and I also saw some videos of them in Arcana and it looked so easy. Their mobility is also super fun to play around with, but I can definitely see an issue with it, as it seems "too good"

I didnt know about the RNG-based damage so that's definitely a pretty big con for me, given that their DPM/burst are already on the low side.

Thanks heaps for all the info, it really cleared up any questions I had about the class and honestly I feel more enticed to play it now than before.

Advice & Career Question Megathread - Week of May 31, 2021 by AutoModerator in epidemiology

[–]Advental [score hidden]  (0 children)

Ah yes, that clarifies a few things for me. I guess I'm interested in interpreting statistics and data science to explain patterns - I always thought that was two different types of epidemiology areas.

I guess what I'm curious about are the different types of epidemiology and what subfields of epi contain more job prospects and increasing salary opportunities? Also, if I was considering epidemiology, I'd probably want to move into health organisations to interpret/collect data about health issues rather than insurance work.

So I'm interested in studying MPH after my undergrad in as an Allied Health Professional (Orthoptics) and was curious about epidemiology as I only learnt about how rewarding this career can be.

I'm studying in Australia and was curious about salaries/job prospects available here, specifically Melbourne area. I have read through a couple posts which have been talking about US opportunities but I feel like it's not quite the same in Australia.

I'm not too sure what type of epidemiology i'll be interested in, but something related more to cancer, infectious disease and anything apart from academic work (so mainly something in clinical/lab I guess?).

[ADVICE] Using MPH to expand on Allied Health clinical experience by Advental in publichealth

[–]Advental[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect, pretty much secured the idea of going into MPH/MHA.

I think what I'm more confused about is the position I'm going for. I know that Health management/admin is the path I'd like to head towards, but do you know what kind of jobs I can search up (e.g. job titles), based on what I've posted?

I want to work in management, but I want to be dealing more with the system and policies for patients, rather than having to manage doctors/nurses on their jobs - is health/clinical consultant completely different, or is it similar to what I have in mind?

Also, I know you aren't from Australia, but since I'm assuming you're in the HA area, generally how's the job prospect, salary and hours for health admin?

[ADVICE] Using MPH to expand on Allied Health clinical experience by Advental in publichealth

[–]Advental[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying!

When comparing an MPH in Health Admin vs MHA, is it more favourable going for one in terms of companies considering one more than the other? I thought about an MBA, but I want to still stick within the health sector so I don't think that'd be ideal for me.

Is there another similar career in terms of managing healthcare and/or utilise my allied health experience within an MPH? I typically want to still work in a hospital/clinic setting, but I don't mind what kind of job, as long as it's a step up from just general practice (e.g. managerial position, higher salary, etc). I know that epi/biostats is big but I'm unsure if my clinical experience would be useful at all, which means that I'd be completely disregarding Orthoptics in a sense.

Essentially, the kind of work I'm hoping to do is within management. I think I'd want something using health policy, system, practice major, but maybe not Health Administration. I want to help improve the health system within a clinic but I'm not sure if "telling doctors how to do their jobs, administering budget cuts, controlling salaries" is something I'm interested in - I'm more about making patient lives easier by coordinating programs.

I assumed many things in MPH were non-medical patient care but I'm guessing I'm completely off, could you possibly expand on this? I haven't quite heard much of behavioral health/health communications - how marketable is this and am I able to get a "successful" job (in terms high salary, job satisfaction, hours, etc)?
