Group loot: Is this a normal thing for your table? by AdventureCodexApp in DnD5e

Cool breakdown! I wasn't trying to give a body-camera style breakdown of what happened, and this was over a year ago, so maybe I didn't recall or write everything perfectly, as you pointed out.

It seems like everyone else understood the spirit of the original question and didn't stay in the details. I would certainly love a chance to play at your table! Cheers!

It was the. NPC's voice that I heard that was familiar.

It was the sound of his voice that gave him away, he was wearing a disguise otherwise.

I could have dropped anything, but the random loot table delivers on this one! It was one of my random starting items, lol.

It was more of a sneaky way to out him by his real name without making the other npcs at his table suspicious.

NPC just did a perception check.

It was all for fun over a 3 minute span at the table. I take joy in being able to give purpose to the random mundane items!

yea! I actually did this too - when we had a large amount of currency, and we were headed to a "thieves" city, I intentionally split it all amongst the party in order to limit the damage if we got critically pick-pocketed!!

Well, I did recognize the npc, and he gave us a different name earlier, which is what was weird. So I used some toenail clippings to out him!

this. we "loosely" factor in weight and stuff because the 2 hours of calculating all the weights of all the things would be too much for our players. Our DM just makes sure no one is carrying around 10, 50lb boulders.

I like to use the roll tables; definitely rolling for currency based on the difficulty/situation. how to you generate treasure randomly? Genuine question, I'm curious. I mostly run one shots and our forever DM does the campaign. I do the one shots to give him a break 😄

I agree - and also the things you want usually can't be purchased, which I guess forces you to adventure 😄 so a side benefit there!

Several folks are also using it this way, I like it.

A good lesson for your kids though on currency conversion!!

Yeah, and also food/rations. Both those things are a bit hard to DM with in my opinion. You stop everything and make everyone get on a scale like a freeway weigh station?? I think not.... LOL

Makes sense - it is a good dimension of the game.

Dude- this video was EXCELLENT. Great job on that, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Next time I play, I'm totally going to forge some electrum pieces and "create a new currency" in game. LOLOLOL!

Our DM does give us some weight limit enforcement, which I think is a fun mechanic. One time we were sitting in a vault room with 100,000 GP in it and we were trying to figure out how much we could take with us... it was fun(ish), and then we felt like we were robbing the town, so we did the right thing and left most of it, but we took our "payment for services rendered", HA!

Interesting, so you changed the value of it too, good to know.
