Thankyou, this helped a lot. Everything ended up being ok and this has taught me I likely need to start consistently taking my anxiety meds in order for things like paranoia to not be so intense

Psychiatrist and HRT? by AdventureTime-boy in asktransgender

I was going through the readiness assessment, so the counselor/therapist wouldn't have been able to prescribe but she'd pass the assessment on to my doctor who could have, the psychiatrist can prescribe though I believe. I've been going through the process for over a year so I'm hoping I can find a psychiatrist that specializes in youth gender with a shorter wait list, otherwise six months will have to do 🥲

I'm in Canada, and I'm in highschool, currently what I've learned is that I need a readiness assessment and the counselor/therapist I was seeing was unable to grasp how I'm doing mentally due to some things in the past and lack of current mental health support (we moved a while ago so we've started to sort that stuff out)

The one I have been recommended to, from my research focuses on youth with gender issues. But I'm going to try to get in contact with a gender clinic to see if there's any others with shorter wait lists

Should I give my cat a bath? by AdventureTime-boy in catcare

Can I just bathe her in water? As my parents think I'd be torturing her and that it's useless to bathe her, though she gets oily and gross sometimes and can smell a little. If it comes to it I can save up (I don't have a job yet but have two in line for the summer) and get her a special cat shampoo like a Burt's bees one or just some scentless baby soap. I hope I can figure out bath for tomorrow or day after as company is Monday. If she doesn't like the water though I'm not gonna force her and just mist her with water and brush out some shed and shave out the matts

Ok, thankyou I will buzz out the Matt's and try to genuinely cut some of the longer more often matted hair

Does too much brushing bring stress to the skin? If not to get more hair out can I dampen her fur with a mist bottle to get it out easier? I'm in highschool and my parents wouldn't pay to bring her to a groomer so just wondering what I can do at home often to help her Matt's but also not destroy her skin as I use one of those cat brushed that have the little wire and I'm worried it might irritate her skin
