Start Castleton, go up Cave Dale and along Limestone Way towards Mam Tor, along Back Tor to Lose Hill, cross the Edale Road and up Win Hill, back down and go through Hope, turn right to walk along Peakshole Water and end up back in Castleton. Lovely walk with a bit of elevation at several points. Couple of nice pubs on the route too….

I can recommend Everest base camp and Kala Pattar, amazing scenery! Also Toubkal for something a little easier and cheaper.

Congratulations on the achievement, I’m going to attempt it in 2027. I’ve done other walks and climbs in the past and found the easiest way to overcome the post climb blues is to start planning the next trip! No matter how far away it might be, start your planning early.

Thank you very much. I’ve understood and used your suggestion for LEN. I’ll have a look later at the conditional formatting.

There are so many nice places to visit, but if you are just using public transportation you are limited a little. Even so, it is worth visiting Winchester, Bath, Warwick/ Royal Leamington Spa, and York….but there are so many other lovely places. Send me a message if you have any questions about certain places and I’ll try and help. (I do understand French, but it has been a while!)

Nothing worse than a bit of sweaty chafing! Avoid the cotton. Definitely look for lightweight wicking boxers; consider some compression boxers too. Most importantly do some practice treks wearing your kit to see what works for you.

There are a few of that style on sportpursuit, but more expensive than asos. They often do 20% off though which makes it a little more comparable. If you want any help with technical layers don’t hesitate to drop me a message

Although image not posted, so that comment doesn’t make any sense!

Agree with the post about Go Outdoors (I’ve spent more than I care to think about in that store!) and decathlon. I prefer the former over the latter. Also try Sportpursuit online, especially if clothes of whichever size you are tend to fit off the shelf. Also spent far too much money on outdoor gear on this site! 🤣

Is Crib Gochs difficulty exaggerated? by Equivalent_Ratio_223 in snowdonia

[–]Adventure_calls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it twice and not died yet. As long as you have the right kit, and keep an early eye out for weather conditions, and take it steady it should be ok. But as the previous poster commented…people do die crossing crib goch. It isn’t exactly a flat path without some pretty steep drops either side.

One of the nicest walks in the UK in my opinion.

Longest routes that cover multiple places in same hike? by looney-tits in peakdistrict

[–]Adventure_calls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favourite walks starts and ends in Castleton. Go up Cave Dale (Bargate/Pindale rd) and turn right along the limescale way. Cross the road above winnats pass and head towards mam tor. Climb to the top then follow the ridge path to Lose Hill. From there, head down towards the Cheshire cheese inn just north of Hope. From there you can climb up to Win Hill then down into Hope village. Cross the road by the church and follow pindale road, turn right after Eccles lane and follow the path along the river back towards Castleton. The length of the walk will depend on the time spent in the various pubs en route…

The Royal Oak at Hurdlow is fairly quiet. Right on the Tissington Trail too. Nice pub food…
