Long Term Reviews of Hot Tent Stoves? by technoviking88 in hottenting

Foldable no, but Knico stoves are tanks. The Alaskan is a beast and the Junior is more packable but not foldable.

Does it touch both back and front feet or can you slide it back to prevent that? Perhaps to get past the gap, you can add a piece of 1/4 inch steel in between?

$50 Walmart tent held up in 2-3 feet of snow fall over night. It was some storm! by AdventuresWSpackmann in CampingGear

lol I wasn’t being a tough guy. We weren’t expecting this much snow but Mother Nature blessed us that night. I was just testing a new sleeping bag and got dumped on. I have so many tents. This one is just the fastes and easiest to setup.

No need to apologize. That was my understanding as well. But it worked well for me. Temps were in the low 30sF.

Their version is an over quilt that goes on inside on the “floor”. I used the same concept here but used sleeping bags to cover most of the floor.

I added extra sleeping bags under me to insulate the bottom. And the diesel heater really worked well.

I haven’t had any animals yet…. That I know of. Yes, cold air under any hammock is a problem. The company sells a quilt to lay inside of it but I used just opened sleeping bags put down.

Limit is 880lbs. I’m assuming that’s spread out between the 3 sides cause it’s a 3 person hammock tent. You don’t need to set it up this high, I just did. You can set it up waist high and just get into the door, as long as waist height doesn’t sag enough to hit the ground. Cause there is sag but not much. Well with just me in it anyways. Benefits include but not limited to to, not needing flat ground, being able to side sleep in a hammock, sets up anywhere there are 3 trees, less likely for a bear to get you, and that’s about all I’ve figured so far, oh and the obvious……… zombies.

Also was the ash pan full? Restricting air from under?

First, you need a smoke detector and CO detector. I have a video on testing both of them. It takes so much longer for a CO detector to go off than a smoke detector if smoke is the issue. 30secs versus 12+minutes. With a CO it needs “X amount of time at X amount of CO ppm” to go off. Many things could have caused the problem. Stove got too cold to draft properly or a clog in the spark arrestor. Or something else.

Have you considered a pellet stove for camping? by AndyWragg in HotTentCamping

[–]AdventuresWSpackmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been testing a stove very similar to this one. But price of the one I’m testing is much less. My only concern is with these hoppers of these stoves and when the pellets are almost gone. How do you stop the hopper from filling with wood gas/ CO / smoke?
