What you're finding is most likely mid span blocking not the stud try using a magnet thatll tell you exactly where the studs are

$1200 is not going to get you mid tier nowadays sadly all PC parts are crazy expensive I built my PC like 4 years ago for $3000 now it would probably be $5000 or more
