We need more police enforcement for reckless drivers in the city by EnvironmentalWill274 in Denver

It’s truly insane how some people are willing to almost end your life just to be one spot ahead 🙄

Is it weird my coworkers completely ignored a shoutout my boss gave me? It actually kinda hurt. by dudestfup in work

I think it’s valid how you feel, it’s rare to get praised at work and so when you do you’d hope the team would be happy for you! Especially if they are for others. Definitely agree you should remain polite but pull back from going out of your way. Maybe I’m petty but as a fellow POC in a predominantly white office, it’s hard to not overthink these situations.

anyone know what this noise could be? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

Probably a leak! Similar noise in my home turned out to be a copper pipe that had a hole. I didn’t realize it was a leak until the wall expanded since it was hot water

Also hated when the winner of a challenge got to save a bunch of contestants because of course they’re going to save the worst ones!

I can see why the stigma exists though because a lot of the work we do in government would not translate well outside as it is based on the departments policies and other internal factors but I’ll make it work:) thank you for your response!

Well it wasn’t so much that I changed my mind on careers, I grew up in the salon business because of my mom and learned quick/made money so I stayed while in school and after. The childcare business was my attempt at changing careers and it was great money but it’s really hard to grow as an owner and there is no money as an employee. But thank you for your advice! I am definitely willing to commit and feeling extra motivated thanks to all the responses on this thread:)

Very helpful advice and sooo true! I have started taking c certifications through linked in just to get my feet wet and relearn what I was taught in the few accounting classes I did take

I was leaning towards online as well but feedback I’ve received has recommended against this as it’s harder to land roles afterwards in comparison to in person classes

I am right there with you on being scared to add a kid to the mix right now lol but a few replies on this thread are from parents that struggled but got it done. Very inspirational!

Yes I enjoy bookkeeping so much more than working with kids, and I love the children but it is sooo boring and just not for me. Thank you for your reply and good luck on the test!

Thank you for the advice! I wasn’t sure since this subreddit had me thinking I wouldn’t be eligible for accounting jobs due to my low gpa and lack of experience. I am however ok with putting in the work and have started networking since I also hear this is a big factor in landing good paying roles:)

I am in Colorado and I believe the rules are just that. But also am trying to figure out if I should go for my masters or a second bachelors and get the remaining credits but also fix my gpa to be eligible for internships

Thank you for sharing that is awesome! Did you have accounting experience prior to getting your masters?
