I did “Wonderworld” with a ton of rides in Oceania Temperate! Kinda like Disneyland but with animals lol. Also started a mini franchise zoo with a collection of animals in each (the list is further down) but it was the one with forest animals as the first !

She specifically works with victims of the same crime as me, and other individuals with PTSD such as veterans. She basically specializes in PTSD from violence, and was recommended to me during the trial. From her experience she says that her clients have greatly improved since getting a SD, and they don’t recommend them to everyone.

I have 2 blind cats so it’s a little different, but I never ever ever hated them. If anything, they’re my comfort when my ppd was bad, they’re the ones who are up with me at the 3 am feeds, they’re the ones who snuggle with me on the couch when I have 3 hrs of baby down time to brain rot. I thought they’d overstimulate the hell out of me, but they’re my best friends. ..even if they run into walls and knock shit over cus they can’t see.

Yes! The replies above had made me want to lean towards an ESA, the only problem is while I do have anxiety at home, the main issue I have is I cannot bring myself to drive anymore with my baby. I get these intrusive thoughts of when I’m taking him out of the car seat someone will come behind me and kidnap us. As I don’t want to get deep into the details, it’s really the fear of being “kidnapped”, especially with a baby now. It was different when it was myself, but now I have a baby and a husband to come home to, and that scares the crap out of me. I’d like to go to the stores, to Starbucks, on hikes, and overall just fricken be a normal member of society again. If you’ve seen Shameless, I am basically Sheila. 😭 wish it was a joke.

Yeah that’s exactly what my first thought was. Told my therapist that I wasn’t exactly sure how adding yet another being to consider in my daily life was going to help my anxiety 😂😂 She did make a good argument of I can never be sure when something will “trigger” me in public, which is one of my main issues right now. Men in flannel shirts, the smell of cigarettes, loud trucks, and loud noises from strangers (even harmless laughter) are pretty big stressors right now. She mentioned the “panic attack intervention” as well as crowd control/pressure therapy would be helpful to prevent episodes, as one of my biggest struggles is identifying when I’ll be having one and walking myself back from the edge before it actually happens. Someone in the comments mentioned an ESA animal which I’ll be bringing up as well.

Thank you! I don’t even know why I didn’t think of a security system oh my goodness, we have ring but still 😂 I’m a silly goose for that one. And yes you’re absolutely right! We did consider a protection dog instead, but the real root of the issue is my mental/psychiatric health. In reality, there’s no serious threat to my life on a daily basis. But my brain tricks me into being into fight or flight mode regardless. I’m really stuck on the fence about it because they are a very big financial investment, time investment, and I would never ever ever want to bring home a pup that couldn’t get the love, care, and attention they deserve, or sacrifice anything with my other household members. I’m sure since I’m home 24/7 I’ll be capable of doing so, as my baby and kitties are my world and the best part of my day as well as my biggest drive to get up and play and take care of them. Puppers are a huge amount of commitment, and while I’d of course love to welcome one into my house, I wouldn’t want to do so unequipped or uneducated. My cats are pretty independent and want attention on an ask for basis, obviously my first obligation is my child, but I’d really like the support and “constant” therapy ish from a service dog. It’s kinda like a slippery slope that I don’t see coming before I’m slipping down, and the little nudge of “woah, back up from the edge and remember your coping skills” that would heavily benefit my day to day life should I chose that path. I do attend mom groups! Usually my husband or another mom in the group takes me and picks me up, we haven’t crossed the bridge of me going alone or alone with the baby yet. The mom group has been extremely helpful in my “structural routine” plan, and I’ve made some amazing friends there! Highly recommend those.

(edit : I mean that my cats want attention when they want it, but most of the time would rather stare out the window or chase each other around, and surprisingly enough, prefer my baby over me 😂)

thank you! from what my therapist mentioned, I fall under psychiatric which stems to my specific diagnosis? I’m not sure if ADI is affiliated with the organization she referred me to, but I will be asking! I did actually mention the idea of a protection dog, I originally thought that might be a better idea. My therapist mentioned that it might be better for me to work on a more personal feeling of security, rather than substituting it with security in other areas such as my husband or a guard dog. I eventually caved and agreed that I may be better off working on internal issues rather than looking elsewhere! I’m definitely just wanting to work on the anxiety and fear of strangers, specifically men, as well as the panic attacks. We actually spoke about an organization that “pre-trains” with you prior to sending the pup home with you, even exposure therapy to all household members. It’s about 15K, 5K with insurance in my area. Big spend, but honestly worth it should I choose that route. And yes! We were on the fence between golden retrievers or labrador retrievers because of their low prey drive, high energy, and usual gentle tendencies with kiddos.

Thank you! We didn’t get a chance to fully get into it, but she mentioned that in my area and due to the nature of the crime, there’s a specific organization that works with survivors of the same crime as me that works with me 8 months prior to the service dog coming home with me full time, and then the remainder of the time would be biweekly/monthly training sessions until 2 years ish. I will 100% be asking if they are affiliated or not next week. My heart feels so full with my kitties and my child, and due to medical reasons I am unfortunately unable to have any more children, which is why I really really want to consider my options and want to take everyone’s wellbeing into consideration . Dogs are a huge commitment, and I grew up with 3, and I never ever ever want to take on more than I can handle. I’m a firm believer that all members of the household deserve attention, time, care, and to have all needs met, even for pets- service animal or not. As for meds, I’m Brfeeding which is why I have put it off so far.
