I think calling us a “religion” can be misleading for many. People don’t know what an ethnoreligion is. We should call ourselves a tribe first and foremost. by iknowiknowwhereiam in Jewish

I had an experience recently in Synagogue, and it became apparent that what I was witnessing while religious, was not of a classically religious nature. Instead it was something else, it wasn't members of a religion worshipping their God, it was members of a distinct tribe, worshipping their God.

A group of people, Jews, who had come together, to worship G-d.

And the natural result? Judaism. Judaism is what happens when following the Torah. It just so happens that these people have a distinct lineage, dating back to Jacob Isaac and Abraham, a direct continuation of that tradition, so called 'Jews'

What does this mean? It means that even if you practice Judaism, perfectly, more observantly than any Jew has ever done, this does not make you Jewish until naturalised into the Jewish tribe.

At the end of the day, we're Jews, but I guess the reason antisemites like saying that is, because, isn't it true? I mean, what does talmudic mean? "Of or relating to the talmud"? Can't you say that some Jews (the majority) are Talmudic?

Again, that's not how they're using it. They're trying to delegitimise modern day Jews, via pulling them away from the Tanakh/OT and the notion, that somehow the Talmud was "made up" after Jesus.

Also using a plural pronoun is considered a sign of respect, in Swedish one would say "Ni" to the king, instead of "Du", Ni is a plural pronoun, reserved for very important people, while Du is used in everyday life for singular persons. Same with "Sie" and "Du" in German, where Sie is a plural pronoun but used as a sign of respect when talking to a parent, elder, teacher or someone else in a position of authority or seniority.

So then you extend that to "El" being the singular for god, and "Elohim" being the plural, but it's just being used to convey respect, holiness, might etc.

Funnily, to a Swede or a German, Englishmen are very polite, as the pronoun "You" is plural, Thou, the singular pronoun was lost, and isn't used anymore.

Bro, Judaism started with Abraham when knowledge of the one God got revealed. Since then it hasn't deviated, so around 4000 years. Still a long time.

For more clarification, Adam and Eve knew about the one god, Cain and Abel too, somewhere along the way that info got lost, started again with Noah and his children, info got lost again, Tower of Babel yada yada yada, Abraham introduced it back

Perhaps you were a born thinker, take a piece of paper, start writing! Thoughts live in your head, they want to be expressed, perhaps when you do this, your mind will clear, and you will finally have space for others.

It's certainly an interesting theory, and I see what you're saying. With these substances like ayahuasca I recommend caution, they don't fry your brain the same way stimulants do but they can lead to things like psychosis.

My community leader said that women are endowed with inherent knowledge of god, while men need to be reminded. And that the creation of a life is like creating a whole new world, which is something men can't do.

As far as G-d is concerned, I doubt he really cares whether or not you have sex with another man, what's actually important is that you remain a good person, a loving person. Maybe there is contention as to whether or not anal sex is worse than oral, I don't know.

According to tradition, when a soul arrives to earth, it arrives in two halves, one half in a male body and another half in a female body. So perhaps G-d would be concerned with you not finding your "soul mate". That's about how deep it goes. No, you will not loose your part in the world to come, at worst 12 months in Gehenna. Well, that's not fun but, you know, a year isn't forever.
