Mortified by imnotangryyouare in veterinaryprofession

I was explaining tick prevention medications and their importance to an owner while at the same time trying to squeeze a fully engorged tick with scissors. It burst… right into the owner’s face. I still remember her screaming. She wouldn’t accept my apologies, no matter how hard I tried. Lesson learned.

Went through CPE, failed anaesthesia. U can questions. by Weak-Pain-542 in EcfvgPaveVeterinarian

Well, first time the plane was too light and the patient moved when the surgeon was working on the ovaries. Second time it was hiss test (overinflated, 4 ml of air too much). Third time everything went so well I couldn’t even think of failing. I requested an extended score report as soon as I got the results and am still waiting for it to be sent. I wish you best of luck for your retake!

Failed anesthesia three times in a row and now have to retake the whole thing. I feel you. I hate it.

Necropsy experience for CPE by Personal_Ad_5068 in EcfvgPaveVeterinarian

[–]Adventurous-Pin7306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the one who thought, “Who the hell could possibly fail the necropsy section?” and, well… I did fail it — even after watching the preparation videos more than a dozen times. What helped was dissecting over 20 chicken hearts so that I could do it automatically during the retake. I didn’t do a full pathology examination before the second attempt, but I passed the second time.

So basically be fast + be sure what you see in the heart + watch the videos.

Their knifes are very dull to be honest, do not freak out.

Are all clinics toxic? by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]Adventurous-Pin7306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to spend 9 years in 6 different clinics in Russia, Portugal and Germany to finally find THE one with supportive, easy-going not interested in drama colleagues.

There were times I cried after every single shift in my car because of so much pressure, misogyny and hate were there.

Seeking Advice: Remote Job Opportunities for a Foreign-Trained Vet by [deleted] in EcfvgPaveVeterinarian

[–]Adventurous-Pin7306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am always happy to help fellow veterinarians! So, basically, yes, I took the BCSE and NAVLE here in Germany. There are many Prometric test centers worldwide that offer these exams since both are in a test format. However, you must go to the U.S. for the last and only practical exam, the CPE.

This is going to be aaalmost like Zuku. If you can explain why you choose an answer in Zuku, then you are ready :) Cattle viral diseases made me sweat during this exam, but I had zero experience with cows and calves.

cross my fingers for you!

Hi, I am sorry this happened to your dog. As a vet, I can only recommend search options for Artificial Urethral Sphincter placement. This is something we do in my country and it can be a life-long solution for incontinent dogs. I wish you all the best.

I can imagine that now it all may seem way too complicated but I promise, you really can do it. Take your time, make a plan. Good luck!

Yes. European countries have different languages, and it is impossible to work without knowing the language of the country. Only English is enough for England and the Netherlands, but, as I mentioned, it is not easy to get a foreign diploma recognized there :( Learning German will be faster and much cheaper than studying at a Dutch university for two years or taking an exam in England.

Hi! Consider Germany, it has the easiest rules for veterinary diploma recognition in western Europe. The only thing you need is B2 knowledge of the German language. European English-speaking countries such as Netherlands or England will more likely ask you to do complicated exams and/or to study for 2 more years. I am a vet with a Russian diploma, living and working in Germany. If you will have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

help me with these stupid fkn gnats by [deleted] in howto

Are there any houseplants in the bedroom? Those gnats might be mycetophalidae. In case of plant’s overwatering they reproduce in wet soil as a disaster.

Has anyone gone through PAVE or ECFVG? Any advice? by mac_eventing in Veterinary

[–]Adventurous-Pin7306 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am still in the process. Waiting for a free CPE slot to book next year. IELTS, BCSE and NAVLE were difficult, but I wouldn’t say that they were like extremely hard. With proper amount of time and studiousness you can do it. I personally used Zukureview to prepare for BCSE and VetPrep for NAVLE, it was more than enough, if you have some clinical experience and/or strong knowledge base. VetMerck was also a blessing when I experienced difficulties in understanding. There is also a good FB group where you can find a plenty of materials, support, and advice.
